Finally upgraded.

+1 more on 2" shackles. I think mine are rough country.

You sure you're not thinking of the boomerang shackles or the revolver shackles? I know I've heard a lot about one of them (can't recall which) unloading in sidehill situations and being dangerous.

As for 2" shackles, I just have heard a lot about them sagging leaves fast, but don't recall anyone claiming I was a babykiller for running them. But hey, bring me a baby and we'll see.

An update to my old thread. So I haven't done anything to my beast in quite a while. 2 weeks ago I did a disc brake conversion on the 9". Thanks Bob @ Big Wheel offroad for welding my brackets on. Right now I got the front axle out of it and on Jack Stands. I am purring in some nice new 5.13's, all new bearings and some new 6* bushings on the radius Arms. I bought a new "Strange" Nodular rear housing and an Aluminum support and a spool. The rear is set up I just need to install it now. I have a couple things left and I am ready to hit the trails again. Trying hard to get it done by Thursday evening so I can take off to URE. I guess we will see if I make it or not. I need to do a cost break down on this thing.

How did you strengthen those arms so they won't break again??

I'll be there hope to see some of you there. We have Badin Group Camp reserved.

I am trying to come down just for the day saturday

Man I really want to be there for the NAXJA thing but I have to go to VA to help a couple of buddies move. One has a Uhaul and the other needs me to drag his Jeep back on a trailer. I have been on NAXJA for 7 years now.

For the arms I welded back at the break I then plated the arms all the way up to the part that mounts to the axle. I have been playing with it hard in the mud so we wills e how it holds up on the rocks. I will look for some pics.

I got the gears in and took the time to break them in correctly. Seems weird driving with a spool. I found I need to rebuild my front spring buckets on the AXLE. mine are week and need some support. So I am going to do that when I get back from Ohio.
