So I am in the market for a new folding pocket knife after an unfortunate incident with a carry on luggage bag and a TSA agent :flipoff:

What brand/model do you like best? Yes I know for EDC a cheap one or even a folding box cutter works, but I am looking for a nicer one, like a SOG, Benchmade, Spyderco, Kershaw, etc.

After going through some expensive $150ish knives from Scallywag... that @Ron warned me about....

I bought a $50 CIVIVI blade.

Worth every penny.

Really happy with it over the past year... Wearing it meow.

A follow up on my post in the above thread, I've EDCed this one about a year now

For a $28 knife it's not bad. Yes its chinese made, and the blade isn't fantastic but it sharpens ok and it flips out nice and smooth, I really like the 1-handed opening. Like @mbalbritton I won't lose any sleep when I lose or break it. And yes this may not be what OP is looking for.

The bottle opener on it is... ok. Not as smooth as a lot of others. And the "screwdriver" tip is a joke I have never been able to use it for that. Its a weird angle for twisting anything.

Get that logical searching feature nonsense out of here :D

I like these knifes so much ive got two sitting in my safe for when i finally break the one im using now. they hold their edge pretty good and easy to get back sharp. they are good size without being bulky and arent stupid expensive

Lost my favorite knife and keys at the damn ranch lol 😂 lemme see if I can find the model it was actually a cheaper one but held up for a couple years with a sharp edge

Kershaw launch 6 is my go to.
Ive tried a few others and come back to the L6.

I do have a pre-order in for the new worksharp RMX...its a 50/50 gamble if its a revolution or a regret but I like work sharp and I'll support the effort.

My Zero Tolerance has held up fenomonally well for the past 10 years. Their warranty is great too. I have went through 3 pocket clips and havent had to pay for one yet.

I got a Benchmade bugout, it was a little pricey but i love how lightweight and slim it is. The clip has lasted the best out of any I've had and you cant even tell you're wearing it which is nice.

I like the USA made Kershaw knives and have several. But for the past year and a half, 99% of the time I carry a SAK. I have these two. The Climber is what I usually carry, but if I’m in the woods I carry the Huntsman because it has the little saw blade. I use the scissors and the bottle opener damn near daily.

The SAKs don’t have a pocket clip like all the cool kids have, but I’ve seen some add-on clips for them. Haven’t tried that though.

I’ve carried a Spyderco Delica for years and never sharpened it. I love how thin they are and the heavy ‘textured’ grip. It’s opened every box I asked of it for at least the last 10 years without complaints. I am intrigued at these Kershaws, but I have no reason to change. I’m also curious what all the hype is about with Benchmades, but am unwilling to spend the coin to find out. 🤷‍♂️

I've always been a Buck Knives guy, and always liked a tanto style blade, so I've been carrying a Buck Bones 870 for the last 15 years or so. I'm also the kinda hooligan who uses a knife as a screwdriver, pry bar, hammer, and whatever else so I try not to spend a lot on a better quality knife.

I'm too old to get in a knife fight. So carry something more utilitarian and useful.

My everyday knife is usually a Victorinox Alox, like this:

Most days I end up with a Milwaukee boxcutter clipped in my pocket, too. Saves the blade on the "good" knife when cutting boxes, etc

I carry a few different folders. Spyderco Delica for "everyday" sometimes my Damascus Delica when I know no one will ask to borrow it. And occasionally now a Boker fixed blade when I'm in the field and I know I or others will "abuse" being a fixed blade but it is a small one that fits in my front pocket or clipped to my belt.

Kershaw 1550ST sucks. They break easily, don't hold an edge, and don't work well. Nobody should buy one, and if you have one you should go ahead and give it to me. (So I can break the tip off  )

I have a Benchmade as well. I've had several Kershaw's and a smith and Wesson. But every one of my past pocket knives clips had issues with the screw anchors. That's my only failure but it's been with every single knife EXCEPT the benchmade
