Damn, never saw an air cooled Chevelle before !!! :flipoff2:

I miss my dune buggy !!!

65hp of screaming fury !!

That old mini bus 2nd from the right is sweet. A rat rod regardless of the engine.

oh snap, which one is yours?
The guy that owns the ratbus, Gary, is a friend of mine...I'm actually working on a website for his new VW garage...
here's mine looking all artsy next to the Jeep during our heavy winter snow...

I have the far left Chop Top Bug

yes i know Gary.. he helped me get my brakes fixed a few weeks back..

Glad to hear you are building a website for him.. I would recommend him for work.
It was funny he had a team spatula sticker on his window :)

oh ya are you going to rockingham?

I am planning to follow Gary and Warren down along with a few others from Raleigh area..

yeah, he's a good guy...here's the beta website
http://www.teamspatula.com/gas/
waiting on more pics & info from him to put it together...
nice bug there...
and if that's Jack's sunroof deluxe bus, then I think I know half the people there...
:)
haven't really met any VW folks up here yet...
:(
and probably not going to Rockingham - baby has me greatly cutting back on automotive events...

vw bus....emphasis on the bus lol......me and my dad have a 69 westy and a 70 standard....along with quite a few bugs.....those are great lookin vws

Here's Bang Bang. She's missing spark so I may be calling up Gary dude. Got power to the coil but it's only putting out 6 or 7 volts. So I may just need a coil? Burnt up the old dizzy so I got a new duraspark 009. But between two variables, I may pass this headache off. Everything else in her is basically new. Too many current and future mods to post. The money (and time) wasted in this Biatch is beyond turning back now...

Nice rides, this was my beetle about 8 years ago...

I got into an accident while driving it on the street. I changed it back to a more resto look and then let it sit for about six years without a cover so now it is pitted, rusted, faded and dying a slow death in my garage.

I'll take it off your hands for ya :)

Ahhh, planning on putting a contact and address on the website? A last name would be a plus as well.

well since that is not his final site.. I guess it was just not added yet

but you can reach Gary @ 919-830-4560

but he usually will not answer till after 10am :)

very cool to see that red bug get fixed up, I know Caleb had plans for it but there was just too much going on.

man I have had so much work done to this thing..the wiring is a disaster..

but so far got engine working, valves adjusted, new boots, new coil, new dist, new wires, new air cleaner, new exhaust, new valve covers and gaskets, all new brakes, new hard brake lines, new clutch cable, bowden tube, I have new steering wheel on the way, new speedo cable with dust boot, new headlights.. dang I have done a lot and have a lot more to do..

but it is all worth it, since now my family can all ride around together in a vehicle which we could not do on the motorcycle..

Speaking of do you know where the bike ended up at?

Yeah, that's it - I'm waiting to get final text, info, etc from him to make sure I put up what he wants up there, not too much...but certainly a phone number would help.
:)
That baja looks sweet - I've been looking for one of those to beat around our acreage in...
:)
but if you have 12 to the coil, and are only getting a few V out, then definitely swap the coil...but if you only have 6 or 7V into the coil, then there's a wiring problem getting there...

And Tominator - are you on Samba too? your name sounds familiar...

I'm not exactly sure. I'm pretty sure though that he ended up selling it but I can't remember. I'll have to give him a call.

12 in and 6 or 7 out. I'll buy a spare coil and see what happens before hitting the Gary button then. :)
Thanks for the number though.
I don't know what's up with local VW mechanics? Shawn - at the joint downtown - is a heck of a nice dude but he will let one set for months and promise it to you every day until you finally go pick it up under frustration with it untouched. Was my experience with them anyways and same from others I talked to.
Simon in Fuquay Varina won't answer messages from his house or at his shop. He tried to buy my bug once and would answer but after he figured out my bug wasn't for sale, it was back to not answering my calls. I make this sound like I'm obnoxious or something but I was only wondering if he did electronic distributor conversions. His son will answer but will blow you off in an instant. They got big head issues! I got my dizzy online.
Did run across a dude up off of Falls of Neuse that was excellent. He fixed my bug after a tip from Shawn's and I had to force him to accept a $20. Can't remember his name and it's been 8 or 9 years ago?

I swear I've checked that thing out before. Not a huge vw fan, but that is awesome.

As are those in the first picture.

Do you take it out often?
