FS... Doubler for an XJ

How about I buy your lunch if you just show up? No need to wheel or prove anything.
hey someday I hope to make it out to have fun wheeling and meeting people. no need to prove nothing either, just get out and enjoy the sport no matter what happens. its all for fun anyways for me. all in all guys, in the end I don't know anyone of you guys yet, and nobody knows me but someday hope to really meet in person and enjoy the outdoors together with the wife and kids. small talk on here is just that and as men, well I too fall prone to it, its natural I guess.

I'll give you credit for one thing. At leat you ddnt delete your threads when thins went bad.

I ain't huggin but if follow the leader is still on I will winch my way to the finish

I will go in front so you have something to hook your winch to.

Fine, then come out to The Flats. There will be a good amount of people there from NC4x4 to meet. Even if you don't have your rig, its a chance to come out and meet like you said you wanted to do.

1. You have transportation and Marion is close to Boone
2. You have free admission
3. You have free lunch
4. You have free admission for your buddies that can fit in one vehicle
5. You don't have to wheel, just show up and have fun like we all do and like you said you wanted to do
6. You have no excuses now

;)

well, I think I could bring the ranger down there and play around a little and meet the crowd. took it out today to test out the welded front and was pretty happy with it considering the rinky dinky street tires suck in a good wash out but got it through finally after another broken mirror, huge dent in drivers door to where now the window don't work, lol, and couple other dings. knocked a good size tree down that broke my mirror twice now so I was pretty happy with that...revenge!!!LOL, but I'm starting to like the truck and learning to get the hang of the wheelbase. I feel like such a novice with the truck compared to my XJs for such a long time but practice is making its way. one thing I've learned already is the long wheelbase seems to slide sideways more than xj and that's really messing with me but i'm learning though. I was very pleased with the welded front how good it pulls instead of rear welded pushing. hope to get some bigger tires this week.

ok so any cheap advise on how to brace the gearbox now that its locked in front. forgot to mention it wines a bit more now and seems that over time will stress it too much. surprisingly turns pretty well still but should I worry about that gearbox mounts on the frame(xjs always crack) or are these frames strong enough to handle that.

Is it a 28, 30 or 35 up front? I'm afraid tires w tread on them will grenade stuff soon up front or the Tcase if you get traction, put some weight in the bed and the rear will get more traction in any pickup, or grip similar to the XJ w the stationwagon style body weight distribution. The Ranger, like most all pickups has a real ladder frame that is stronger than a unibody IMO, but i'm no expert.

I dont know how you're running that thing with a welded front end. I used to have my front end welded and hated it. I couldnt wrestle the steering wheel the right direction to save my life. Slap a lokrite in it and I bet that would help with things binding up, I remember it really loosened things up for me.

Perhaps if the front was'nt welded you could have steered around the tree that broke your mirror twice and prevented the huge dent in the door and the "dings"? I'm no expert or rockcrawler but I've never had lockers, LS or welded diffs and i've been up, down, sideways, backwards, spinning , through mud, clay, swamps, creeks, sand, hills, holes, snow, ice, some rock, etc. and rarely if ever stuck or stopped because of open diffs. usually it was tires or lack of that caused loss of foreward motion or steering response. My Toy would go almost anywhere I pointed it in 2wd when I had used 33 15.5 15 SS SXs on it and I had to remind myself to lock the hubs now and then to splash some oil on the gears and bearings. I like to wheel and make my own path through the woods sometimes and steering is something I'm fond of.

Only under special circumstances could a For Sale thread in General Chit Chat turn in to a Ford Ranger Newbie Tech thread...

I gave my advice and was promptly ignored.

I returned the favor by promptly ignoring the one I gave the advice to.

I must admit, I thought about removing the ignore just to watch the train wreck, but I have abstained so far...

Maybe I should remove the ignore just so I will know what parts were not damaged by the grenade so I can buy what's left over for cheap. Oh wait... he's not popular enough to sell on this forum... never mind. :flipoff2:

its a 35 front and 7.5rear with 3.73. i'm keeping eye out for 8.8 ranger diff but for now its working. and agree with the front welded carrier...it is dangerous but got new hubs coming soon and for only mild trail riding I reckon I can make it work. something to beat on until I get maybe the 44 off a F150 down the road and just put a locker in it.

Nice paintjob for a beater :D I'd loose the rollbar or make it flush w the roof to keep treelimbs from hanging on it.

I thought about that but too lazy to do that now.lol. I already had to shorten it, cause it came off a wider bed, 10" inches so I kinda stuck with that for now.
