Kind of a random question…but I‘ve got around a 130 gallons of rec 90 gas that I need to get rid of. I’m redoing an older Mako center console and plan to replace the fuel tank (150 gallons). Called a couple boat places (e.g. Chatlee in Sanford) and no one wants to deal with removing the gas.

I considered getting some 55 gallon drums to store the gas in but after the costs of the drums (quick google search) and my time to siphon it out of the tank into the drums…I am not saving much vs getting rid of it and then buying new fuel in the spring (assuming gas prices don’t skyrocket).

Is there somewhere I could take the boat to have the gas removed? Hell, I’d give it to someone if they wanted it…I’m sure it’s still good (filled in January and treated with stabil in late February).

I had about 30 gallons of several year old gas I had to dispose of recently. I kinda caught hell finding somewhere to take it. Luckily I found a recycling center that took it off my hands for $10.

Probably a stupid question but are those ‘safe’ for fuel? I think they are typically HDPE which should be fine for fuel storage, right?
Will be fine and you can find them for $50 some times on CL.

Had the same boat gas problem a few years ago except about 300 gallons. Bought a used semi truck saddle tank and used an old yj high pressure pump to transfer with. Burned it all through the wife's jeep grand. No issues and it was about 3-4 years old. Sold the tank after I drained it. May have even come out ahead on that deal. Except I still have the boat and that's a money pit...

drive to raleigh and grab the two 55 gallon tanks i have and borrow my fuel transfer pump and be done

This offer seems too good to pass up. If you’re serious I can drop you a PM and coordinate! LMK, thanks.
I don't make offers unless I am serious
