Gone Postal : Mail Jeep Build

I read through all 34 pages. Wow is an understatement. Killer build and attention to detail. If you ever need a hand let me know and I'll be glad to come over and help. Cant wait to see that Rock Jock stuffed under there.

Thanks so much! It's been one heck of a journey.

Yes, Yes, Yes!

Haha. I feel the same way!

I have some updates on the rear axle install. It's a "JK" Currie RockJock 60 so it has the set 80 bearings, 66" WMS, 35 splines and mounting for stock JK brakes. I had mine built with 4.56 gears, 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern, 1350 yoke and a Yukon Grizzly locker along with the currie bridge and upgraded diff cover. I liked the JK axle setup due to the centered rear diff, could use part store JK brakes and the fact that Currie has a part # for the axle shafts for this model so if I ever break anything, it's a turn key type of axle instead of full custom.

I took the axle shafts out the install the JK backing plates. These things are massive! (miller lite for comparison)

New 1350 driveshaft from Carolina Driveline. Running length of 15". Yep, it's that short! I had to get a flange for my NP231 t-case as well.

Here you go guys. These are the only photos I have right now. These were taken by our photographer as I was driving up to the wedding venue on my wedding day last month. :huggy:

Hey man, I have always been a fan of this build and I am in the beginning stages of building my first jeep right now. My jeep will be very similar to yours and that it will be a leaf spring spring over axle, a 5.3 LS, and automatic, D300, D44's.

I was wondering if you knew what rpm you are running between 60-65 mph. My axles will be geared to 4.30, but I am trying to determine if the overdrive transmission is necessary for highway driving. Do you consistently get the 19.? mpg at 55-60 mph you mentioned early in the thread with the lack of overdrive? Thank you in advance!

Hey bud. Just seeing this post. It's been a while since I've been on here and looks like photobucket stopped sucking and re-tagged my thread photos.

You can look at a rpm calculator online. That is what I used. My final drive is 1:1 and it does okay at 55-65mph. I've been on hwy 485 at 75mph and it did fine as well. My gearing is 4.56 and I'm running 37" MT/Rs. IF you are doing alot of highway driving you might want an overdrive. I would like to have an overdrive gear at times.

Since I haven't posted anything in a while. This was from our last wheelin' trip. Twins have taken up most of my wife and my free time but I am about to undertake a rebuild on my YJ thought (full link suspension with 4-6" total WB stretch in the works with Genright and Poison spyder parts, YJ genright gas tank, I did rebuild my YJ cage, adding poison spyder fenders, inner fenders, rear flares, and building a custom rear semi-float dana 60 out back).

Bumping this thread to the top. I just listed my mail jeep for sale. DM me for info if interested.

Never updated the final thread. Sold this jeep back in the early summer to a cool guy from Alabama. He’s been enjoying the heck out of it. I did make some soft door mounts and latches for the new owner when he bought it. I was proud of my design bc they are fully adjustable in any direction.
