government mandated time loan

I love this time of year. Cold and dark.

It is nice having light early in the morning again for riding and walking.

where's the semi annual bitching about time change?

where's the semi annual bitching about time change?

A spokesman for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi declined to say if she supports the measure but said she was reviewing it closely.

I'm sure we'll have to pass it before we can know what's in it! Reviewing it closely, Really? Like that's gonna occupy more than 10 minutes of her time?

I'd rather they didn't do it at all. Just leave it on Standard Time year round.

One of the reasons they didn't stick with year-round DST in the 1970s was because of kids getting hit by cars going to school in the morning. The sun wouldn't come up in December until 8 or 9am, depending on where you are.

Yeah I've been thinking about it and decided that standard time all year makes more sense. I'd rather have a little sunlight in the morning during winter. And honestly, I don't need sunlight until 9pm in the summer.

Right? Getting up at 4:30 or 5 anyway, would be able to get more done with more daylight.

I'm team standard time. I usually wake up around 5:45, and . I much prefer to see a little bit of daylight before work. If we stuck with standard time, i would still have 3 hours of daylight after work in the summer. I also think my kids have a harder time waking up before the sun comes up, that ray of light in their window really helps ease them out of sleep or something.

Apparently 75% of people want Daylight Savings Time year round. I agree. That way it isn't dark when you get home from work in the winter.

Why not? More sun in the afternoon means most people can be out getting things done. It's not just about you.

Go to sleep earlier?
Night owl
It seems to me the big argument over DST and whether the permanent time should be the current DST or non-DST really comes down to a fight between the early birds and the night owls.
Personally I'd much rather have light after work to do stuff, I don't care so much if its dark when I get up and go to work, and even if there were more light before work its not like I'd use that time to work on my shed like I might afterwards. But I'm Team Night Owl and don't like to get out of bed anyway.

I can totally understand how some people might prefer it. Just not me... and my hopes is that we outnumber the crazies who DO like getting up early :D

I'm an early bird, but I can't mow my grass, blow leaves, or cut down a tree at 6am. I can do it after work though if I can see. I can walk and ride my bike in the dark in the morning.

Split the difference? Then every self setting clock in existence will be off by 30 minutes.
I know this is a joke, but there are places that do that! Like Newfoundland. When I was there it was confusing as hell talking to the fam at home.

Some interesting reading here
