Here comes the snow!

We get $20 for an easy pull, and $50 if I have to go into 4lo. Everyone signs a waiver releasing me of any responsibility to their vehicle.

thats what I did in high school to pay for my 4x4 habit except I was way more expensive than that. Imagine what a tow truck bill looks like to them on a day where 50% of the cars are in the ditch!!! I never got out of my Jeep for less than $100. The bigger the asshole the more it cost. Total assholes were left on the side of the road for the tow trucks

Typical day I'd come home with at least $500 and often more.

Damn, and all these years I've been pulling people out for free...

Same here, back in 2003 or 2004 the last time we had some decent snow I pulled out a good number of cars. Didn't charge a dime, while a guy that drives a Black H1 in my area was patrolling 485 and other areas making some $$$. Oh well.... I always figured if it was me, my friends/family that was stuck I would want someone to do the same. But more power to you guys, $$$ is $$$.

Never charged anyone myself, but have never been charged when I needed help in mud/snow/ice, etc.

Looks like we got almost no snow here.....

My wife just tried to get to work. Pfafftown to Salisbury, it's a pain in the ass. She couldn't get up the road to get to 52. Trooper was telling folks to turn around on the hill by Caver's road. The problem with Triad/RTP snow is that it doesn't stay snow. Snow's easy. But the roads are too warm and the temps never get low enough to keep it that way. So it turns into slush and ice, which are much more dangerous than snow. Not as pretty, either. I don't mind driving in it, I've got FWD. I just like a good excuse to lay out for a while! ;)

Looks like about 2" and 21*, It'll hang around for a while.

I used to lay out of school when it would snow up in Boone. Go pull people out of ditches, and just ride around and play. '48 Willys Flat head. geared low with 235 mud tires. My best memory was pulling a bob tail truck tractor out of a ditch. I was proud, he was happy and tossed me a Grant!

I'm gonna go do donuts in the pasture if we get any more... I'll probably be in the ditch if I try to drive down my street :| :driver:.

Well, we got about 2 hours of riding in on the RZR til we blew the back tire off the rim, time for beadlocks.... This morning the roads we pretty icy but its all gone now, i doubt it will freeze over tonight....

Was she trying to go Bethania-Rural Hall or Walker?

B-RH isn't steep, but it's uphill from Walker all the way to Murray... Walker OTOH, was probably stupid in the dip near Mallard Lakes!

Never thought about either being bad routes, but now that I think about it...

Well my ex just totaled her grand cherokee on 40w. Hit some ice, did a 180, and slammed into a tractor trailer. Gotta love that the state trooper told her to drive it home with 2 of the windows broken out, the body twisted, the front bumper hanging off and the 2 broken lights lol. O btw shes from Pennsylvania. I rest my case.

Went up to Old Bald with a few buddies last night. My friend Ryan in his XJ with 4" and 31" STT's and my XJ. Let's just say my street tires really shined in the traction-lack department. 4" inches of snow or so up there.

schools closed, some businesses closed here in VA Beach........news all day yesterday said it was going to snow all night last night and all day today and we'd get about 4-5 inches. i was excited.

i havent seen one freakin snow flake.how pathetic. i'm pissed.

I think this is just a ploy by the media to make all the working folks watch "history" be made.

One thing I've noticed up here is that the snow doesn't melt and then turn to ice.. you can drive around on a pretty good layer of the stuff.

Even my 2wd truck gets around pretty well with the locker, A/T's, and 2,000lbs of weight in the bed, but it reminds me (rather often) of its limitations and makes me work to get up the driveway...

4wd x ice = 2wd x ice = 0 traction..

i live down in Southmont and we got about 1/2 inch of snow. started last night. went to wal-mart this morning in the jeep and hit a few slick spots, but other than that...sun came out an hour or so ago and the roads are damn near dry. snow is still chillin' in the shady spots though.
