Meanwhile departments around here have plenty of money from their local tax base, but get all grades of grants for stupid stuff that we don't really need or don't need to upgrade.

Two fema guys came through my neighborhood today going door to door. They asked if I had home damage and wanted to make sure I was being taken care of. No way I’d have taken any money or made a claim. Told him my dock took a little damage but that’s a luxury and I’d handle it. Luckily my dog was at the front door trying to eat the guy. If they were scammers, I believe they’d pass on my house with how my dog showed his ass. They seemed legit, but who knows.

A friend has been going to Swananoa and setting up their food truck, feeding anyone that's hungry and living in a tent.
They have been been doing this since the second week ..... and all out of their own pocket.
We heard they were looking for a camper and decided to get our pop-up on the road and just give/donate it to them.
We haven't used it in 6 years and we did expect to spend some on it to get it road/sleep worthy.
Some work and then 2 new tires and a new spare and we opened it up ...... wow!
It looks like Mickey Mouse on parade!
Most stuff is OK but the top and bunk pads are trashed!!!
With what we had spent, the top was just too much for them or us to swing right now.
Breaks my heart because it my health was better I would have been up there 5 weeks ago doing emergency coms with the ham operators.
Heading to ure for the veterans ride this weekend. But back to the mountains again to help out next week. If you are interested in sending some stuff let me know. Still would love to bless the kids where I can. And maybe even help some folks with some bills if they need be. Encountered many folks out of work due to buildings gone. I’m doing my best to hand pick and help folks that I truly think need the help. Will update a Amazon list soon

The beloved trail is the "lifeblood" of the town of Damascus. Until repairs can be made, visitors are being encouraged to explore the trail’s other half, which is now open.

I've heard some people refer to it as a "hundred year flood", but that is so far from the truth its laughable. I saw some geologist calculated that it was a 1 in 30,000 year level of flood.

Weve had so many hundred year floods and rainstorms in the last few years, we must have went centuries without rain at one point. Also, for many insurance companies, anything worse than hundred year doesnt matter, as they arent covering damages.
