I hate auto parts chain stores

I've debated on getting a lift, would definitely make gear work x10000 easier but it would make it my already tight shop feel smaller.

I hate doing gears on a creeper, I’m almost to the point of I’d rather pull the axle and put it on my stand instead. But possibly taller jack stands would help, some 12 tons or bigger. Ruins my back the next few days contorting my body like that.

How bigs the shop? I have a two post lift in my 24x30 and it's livable. Lift makes everything easier.

Of course work ruined me. I stand under one every day, so now I don't want to have to lay down at home, that was my justification.

Because it is overpriced snake oil and most people don't fall for it?
I was skeptical until just now I can barely hear my spartan locker when I was driving in a circle at full lock in my cul-de-sac.

See I would agree with you, except I made myself 3 rules.
1) I never argue with @shawn about deltas or straw men
2) I never argue with @braxton357 about what constitutes a cool hat
3) I never argue with @Jody Treadway about anything to do with R&Ps...and he said : Gear oil

You're talking about a guy who gets paid to rebuild rear ends. It's not economically beneficial for him if you have a long-lasting gearset. :flipoff2:

That's what I'm talking about :D

I couldn't find a store with 5 quarts of Lucas 85-140 in stock. So I had to go to two stores.

I had to go to 3 stores for 3 qts. I don't wanna hear it.

You guys are going to the wrong stores.....my Napa is stacked silly with Lucas!

30x30 with an 8x30 mezzanine at the back. My big thing is the width and having a work bench on one side and room to walk through and stillness work.

Shopping for auto parts sucks. Shopping for old Fordson and Long tractors is a nightmare.

@Chris_Keziah I got you. Mines 24 wide. The lift post is less than a foot from the wall. All my benches are along the rear wall opposite the drive in doors. I can't walk between the lift and wall, if a full size truck is parked there I can't walk between the truck and lift due to gut clearance, lol the lift is in the bay opposite from the man door so it's not a big deal to walk around to get from right front to right rear. When something is lifted though it's fine just duck under. If my shop were 30 wide it'd be good with my current layout.

At some point pride in a job well done takes over
Like when my big tire, low IQ, high HP buddies no longer consider low pinion front 60 gear sets a yearly maintenance item.
@jeconn
@McCracken @Kap10merica
@woodrow @BigSouth @GONOVRIT @farmboy @PQR among others.
Seeing Brian Webb snap a front pinion shaft with the teeth still intact made me warm and fuzzy inside...
