and listen to that statement. He Works where? in the Machine Tool World. Where they Machine things... like tools.... Oh the Irony. You work in the machine tool world? Spent a lot of time with Okuma LT3000EX and MA12500 MA600 machines.
If I buy a piece of heat treated 4140, have the hole edm’d, and drop it off at your office, what do I win?
Oh the irony, that a machine tool....doesn't come with tooling, to machine, in a machine tool.and listen to that statement. He Works where? in the Machine Tool World. Where they Machine things... like tools.... Oh the Irony.
Cut to suit, beat to fit, paint to match. At least thats how we do it lol.Throw it in the mill and machine the boss width down to a width that fits the off-the-shelf bike tool. Apply spray paint before (or after) reinstalling. #done

Yep, lived most of my working life around chips and cutting tools. Eventually I might be able to figure out how to use them! You work in the machine tool world? Spent a lot of time with Okuma LT3000EX and MA12500 MA600 machines.
Nothing because it should be clear by now he doesn't actually want the solution, he just wants to talk about why this is a hard problem. If I buy a piece of heat treated 4140, have the hole edm’d, and drop it off at your office, what do I win?![]()

So what's the solution? This was like reading a transcript of a conversation with my wife when she has a problem she doesn't really want solved, because then there'd be nothing to talk about.
That is found hereSo what's the solution?
Nah, its a german tool, so its gotta be a beer. That is found here
A ham sandwich seems to hit the spot.So what's the solution?
The Mazak dealer in Winston is having an open house April 23rd if you want to come up and voice your concerns and buy me lunchYep, lived most of my working life around chips and cutting tools. Eventually I might be able to figure out how to use them!
Okuma's are my favorite machines. Stout beasts that are underrated instead of overrated like a lot of others <cough>Mazak<cough>
. It is German
At least most everyone else in here has tried to be helpful. I’d think you, who works on German cars for a living, would have some useful input, or at least understand the frustration with their infatuation with oddball fasteners.A ham sandwich seems to hit the spot.
The German tool would probably look like the wrench version of this fractal vise... intricate, finely machined, and overly complicated for no reason.

Bet you wish you had one of these. Similar shape but this one is .508" instead. Pretty sure it's 4140 prehard as it was on the 4140 shelf, but can't be sure since my hardness tester doesn't work :/.
Only took 2.5 beers to make, spent more time reading this thread.
