Well after having my XJ for over 11 years and after the barrel roll at DPG it is finally time to retire it and build something new..

I am in no hurry so this may take a while..

but the gist is YJ frame, YJ tube, CJ grill and hood, 9" rear axle, hi-9 front axle on air shocks, linked, low on 38 TSL's

old XJ build if you are bored:

tonight a few buddies came over and helped me get frame into garage so I can start getting it prepped and ready for work/fab.

first order is move a few things around in the garage and get frame setup so I can clean the frame then next will be fix tub and get that ready to go on frame, then the fun starts

Sounds a lot like my buddies YJ that is sitting in my driveway. Well at least with the YJ Tub and CJ front clip. His has Coil overs and 60/14 bolt. Good luck and I wll be folowing you. I used your XJ as an inspiration for mine.

Please leave the hood painted like that! Can't wait to see this get going! Are you using the xj's parts to put this together?

right now the plan is to use XJ motor, tranny, seats, air shocks and that is pretty much it..

Looks like a fun axle to build...

Well got a few free minutes in the garage today..

made 2 jacks stands( need to make 2 more ) which will set bottom of frame at ride height, then added a brace between frame rails and cut off back of frame..

set extra 9" housing in back to get idea of location..

next is to start cleaning the frame

took a bunch of measurements and cut body for 2x4 tubing as support and rock rail all in one..
I will add bracing later on and the bars for seats will connect the two sides inside tub also

Looks good so far. I'm in Raleigh too, LMK if you need a hand moving the tub around or anything.

well got drivers side cut and tube in place for rocker

next is to cut up floor and fix all the rust and get body bolted down, then I an start on drivetrain

well after tons of measuring and drawing plans out in my head I decided I needed to cut even more.. So I did :)

I raised the 2x4 up another 1.5" and it is now perfect, for me atleast.. so both sides are cut and 2x4 is welded in.. then I started cutting off body mounts since I am making my own but only got the passenger side done..

and since we all love pics :)

rock rails in

Man you weren't kidding when you said you were going "high" with those rocker rails, right to the bottom of the door!!
