$50 says I race the 4Runner before you have this thing done in time for next season. :flipoff2:

Hope things go a little smoother for you with this build.

yea bull shit....I stripped everything down and it was ready to go....now i got to get a ARB AND GEARS FROM YA.

The 52x was one of the best looking buggies I have ever seen. Good luck with the build I will be following along.

I agree thats why i sold my other chassis i was going to use and snatched Will's up when he was selling it. I had to replace 2 of the tubes because of Will but its not beat as bad as his single seater was!:shaking:

Brandon, after watching and talking to folks this weekend in KY, you may want to think abt triple bypasses if money allows. Hope to see you get it going.

I will probably be putting some on there later after it is built....trying to finish the hard parts first. Axles/motor/tranny/tcase go in tomorrow........

I would stay away from the HP rear but sounds like your going to be building a good ride. This thing killed it in the whoops when we were at KOH. Set it up right and it will be very competative.

yea the rear high pinion is the only thing i am worried about....I set the pinion far down so i could get enough lube on the pinion bearing as i could. we will see.

Be worried...be very worried. Like I'd put something else back there before ever spending the coin on a hp rear end. I couldn't make a true hi9 last for more than about 3-4 rides before blowing it up...after the 4th time I went back to a LP9. The hp60 is suppose to be even weaker..not hating, just trying to save you some heart ache and cash. Good luck with the build

you get the hood in the deal?

no sir i did not get hood! sucks i know....a HP60 is weaker than a hi9? how is that? The gears in a 60 are alot bigge

alittle progress today...orderd rockcrusher knuckles w/highsteer arms, hubs, spindles, ARB and gears should be here next week sometime....Its holding me back right now

Sounds like you have already made up your mind to run the hp 60 rear. If that's the case, good luck.

Everyone is advising against it to save you money in the long run. It will break, many others have already tried it. I personally run a 14 bolt, and wouldn't have it any other way.

The pinion on a 9" is set farther from the ring gear centerline than it is on a 60. So the tooth pitch on a 9" gearset is steeper, making a larger contact pattern and a stronger gearset. If you actually compare them head to head, the only thing bigger about a D60 gearset is the ring gear diameter. The heel to toe length on a 9" is massive compared to the D60.

He read on pirate it was ok to run so it must be so......no need to take advice from people who've run/raced/and broken that stuff for over 10 years.

It should be fine as long as you don't like the throttle and it doesn't like to hop.

This.

They are fine and great for crawlers. I run a Solid Mfg HP60 rear in my buggy and i havent ever had an issue out of it. Im not racing though (nor do I have tons of HP either).

I dont think I would run one in a high HP racer. They are for front axles and crawlers...not really for a racer.

Brendon I would stay away from the HP too....JK guys have been blowing them too pieces lately....I could only imagine koh. I got your message last week, call me back I may be able to hook you up with a axle that hasn't been released yet that I think you would like.

The only reason i was set on it because it has alot of money in it from dynatrac and it was FREE!:flipoff2: If i changed it, I would run a 14 bolt like travis said....got one in the jeep and love it....

all the more reason to sell it and buy a good axle......since Pirate is your guide...ask Bamasahara about his dynatrac HP...again..no one is hating man....it's just a lot easier to change the axle in the middle of your build than after it's done and you're on the side of the trail (or race course) with a blown up r&p. Rant off...suggestions off.

thats what i was thinking...sell it for more than i would build a 14bolt for....would anyone recommend going full time detroit in back or get an arb like i am getting for front?

the only other problem is i have 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern on wheels to match axles and i just ordered a conversion kit/knuckle assembly from rockcrusher for front axle to convert to 5 on 5.5....14 bolt is 8 lug......

I might have to go with a ruffstuff housing 9" like i wanted to do front and rear...any suggestions?
