Koh 2010 52x buggy rebuild

I know your into the 700r4 already but I think for extreme use the 4 bolt flange on the back of the 700r4 is a weak spot. If your going full Manual VB I'd find a 4l60e and use that. It has the larger 6 bolt t-case flange and is stronger. IMHO. my .02

If you find out a way to put a full manual VB on a 4l60E, PLEASE post it up. I havent been able to find a way (at least one that is financially worth it). Supposedly there is one way to do it...but i have never seen it confirmed that it can actually be done.

Not a MVB but, I am pretty certain it would be possible to convert a 4L60E to full manual operation. In fact, I think Trans-Go makes a kit for this. Here's a brief description that I found at http://www.bulkparts.com/MM007.ASP?pageno=1173.

TransGo Reprogramming Kit 4L60E 93-2001
# 98362 Performance stick shift kit 4L60E-3
Stick Shift: Full manual control Converts back to automatic. Competition, off road and pro-street. Holds 1st, 2nd and 3rd to any RPM; Backshifts to 3rd, 2nd and 1st at any RPM

I've seen the Trans-Go kit, but have yet to actually find anyone (not on the internet) that has run a full MVB 4L60E. Ive been to 3 legitimate trans builders (2 track guys, one old school chevy guy) and none of them have seen one either. I will call Trans-Go on monday to see what i can find out. I (and they) could be wrong, and I hope I am...I'm not saying its not possible to do, I'm just saying financially smart. If its going to cost me 2K to do it, ill slap in a different trans and buy the atlas adapter for that trans.

Oh, and that second link doesnt work.

For tech sake...what would one do with the wiring harness/computer to make it think that its got an electronic trans back there? Would a pre-4l60e (700R4) 4.3 computer (with pin-outs changed around) be the ticket?

I imagine you would re program to think its mated to a manual...thats what everyone I know does on the 5.3/6.0 mated to th350 set ups...

Call trans-go those guys rock. I had an issue with a trans builder fucking up the HD-shift kit in a 4L80e and they helped me work through it (myself) even sent me a revised kit no charge.

waiting on rockcrusher knuckles, hubs etc for front end, custom harness & tune from sspwiring(awesome service and price compared to jims) gmpp hot cam and springs, radflo airbumps, and a few other stuff to come in and it will be a roller in the next week.:driver:

Got a ton of parts from the brown box santa:flipoff2:

I am trying to make the october 28th ECORS race. Cant wait

pics up soon

whats the date? I was going to wait for 2012 koh just because i did not want to run the lcq because of how much harder it is then qualifying on east coast....let me know

This coming Saturday. I wouldn't say its easier to qualify on the east coast, there are more spots available to LCQ, than the qualifiers. The qualifiers just give you multiple dates to try to get in.

But for us living across the country driving all the way there not knowing if your going to get in would be crazy.:shaking:
I want to work the kinks out in the ecors and will qualify race koh 2012. Too soon, too many problems will occur showing how will did last year.......built the buggy in 2 months.....shits gonna happen.

or like the single seater he/we finished on the lake bed and finished top 20 or whatever. After seening and being involved in koh 2 years in a row it really seems to me that the stuff that is just barely finished does better. Maybe its luck or lack of abuse. Anyway it looks awesome and I think why wait after watching the lqc last year you could have basically winched every everything and still gotten in. I would try its just money you have alrady spent a ton whats another 4 grand or so to go wheel the coolest place I have ever seen.

just my 2 cents

Just to keep you posted....it looks like i will be narrowing the fron 60 with new inner c's and cut down shafts......front came out to be 86" outside tire to outside tire. That wont even fit on a trailer. The back is 81" so I think if i take about 2" off each side I will be good to go. making wms about 65"

I will get some pics and update soon. I am busy plumbing everything and getting it running good.

yes, I am pretty sure....I had manual steering the whole race until I DnF'ed. Cant believe i made it that far.
