any update on bigwoody? last i checked on the leader board i didnt see him. ive been a way from the comp for a while

All I know is if Loren actually ends up being that winner. that is awesome..

he was in LCQ and did well then went on to win KOH.. that is awesome

greg and travis had injector problems that didnt let them make it back to the main pit before 530. we replaced the p/s pump and rear d/s then figured the replacements were shitter than what was on and swapped them back. ended up being a pinched supply line. they were doing really well in the beginning. don't know anything else yet and i dont think anyone does for sure listening to the radio. what do the pirate leaderboards say?

The Mud Devils finished 10mins short of the 5:30 cut off time. Sucks they were doing so good for so long but I believe they finished in one piece, Here's to ya boys:beer:

Heh... if you think info is better on site, you're wrong. We were on course all day long w/team radio and BFG relay, and still had no idea what was going on. Talking to Tech Tim on Friday night, the PBB team knew little more than we did.

Our guys' car didn't make it to the lake, so they started 76th or something in a rental. They were the 19th car arriving at the last BFG pit (so maybe 5 spots higher time-adjusted) when they handed the car off to its owner. He turned off his radio and then broke the car. Still haven't heard the full story on that.

Other random thoughts:

That Xtreme/Ian car was BIG. Really big. The 301 was bigger, though.

Don't go thinking that you're going to do some trail riding before the race. It was busy on Sunday and only got worse as the week went on. Much quieter after dark, though.

The event was extremely well run overall. Checkpoints were all set up the same, too. No guesses about whether it was 'really' a checkpoint or just some randoms in the desert.

Everybody was cool, friendly, and we didn't go anywhere that we weren't offered food, beers, and a seat by the fire. We didn't even cook dinner on Tuesday night b/c we filled up while out visiting.

The manager at Rite-Aid will not come ask you to leave, despite huge signs in the parking lot warning that the parking lot is reserved for customers only and listing a half dozen state and local laws you're in violation of, and despite occupying a third of their parking lot with rigs and trailers.

Explain a little more. I'm not following...

The car that was going to be in the race ran into some fitment issues during final assembly. A couple of things didn't work out quite like they were supposed to, and once those were sorted out, it was impossible to get the car loaded and transported to the Hammers before Tech closed.

KOH rules are ambivalent about the car that's in the race. It can be anyone's vehicle, so long as the driver of record either starts or finishes the race. So Dave Cole hooked us up with a guy that came out for LCQ but didn't make the cut. Our guys drove his car for the first 70ish miles, then he drove the last half. When he got in the car, he decided that the radio was too loud and annoyed him, so he turned it off. Then he blew through a pit that was supposed to be a check-and-go. When he got to the Wrecking Ball pit for fuel, the PS reservoir had been loose for so long it had worn a hole in the body and leaked out. We patched that with some rubber tape and hose clamps from the Marlin guys and sent him on. Last I heard, the PS system had quit, but they fixed it and were continuing. We never heard from him again.

The car worked pretty well, and it had good parts on it. But things like tuning the shocks had taken priority over more basic shit like making sure the link bolts were long enough and had lock-tite and stovers on them, or that the front bumps didn't land on the brake line when the suspension was a little crossed up. We spent a couple of hours on Thursday night prepping the car and marking nuts, but still had to tighten stuff at every stop. You could tighten the fawk out of all the links, but 20 miles later, four or five of them would be finger tight. If we had known about it, we could have fixed it before the race, but the owner wasn't really forthcoming. It wasn't until we tried putting away the winch cable late on Thursday night that he told us that his little 12voltguy panel was actually labeled backwards. In was really out and vice-versa. Two strangers are about to get in your car. You might have mentioned dumb shit like that when we were writing the fix-it list.

Anyway, it was a great race and we had an awesome time. We were pretty lucky to find a car and make the race at the last minute. It's just frustrating to know that we could have done better and maybe even placed well had the car been better maintained.

You guessed it. I didn't know a thing about the guy going into it, but found out afterward that he has a reputation of sorts.

We were out there to support Pook and Berne.
