A family that lost five members in a June tubing excursion in North Carolina is suing Duke Energy, demanding that the utility remove or make safety improvements to the dam that caused the five people to drown.

On the news the other morning they were talking about all the flooding in NYC, and how they got 3-5 inches of rain in 12hours. I know it is because of the concrete and asphalt, but that amount of rain isnt completely abnormal for most of the SE.

I am pretty certain I was on this river the same weekend. Different location. The entire family was non English speaking from what I understand. Sad, but it reinforces my stand on coming here and culture. Bring your variety and your traits but the language is English and the flag is the Stars and Bars. If for some reason the signage isn't in multiple languages I find no fault in Power Company.

The family has themselves to blame for lack of due diligence. Every flyer and town promotional piece of paper or web information was plastered with the dangers and egress points. Its a very popular 3 river system area.

I'm guessing yes it will be enforced. This one mod is more dangerous than a whole host of others combined. Its also painfully obvious to me that most of the owners really shouldn't be driving a grocery cart much less the abomination of choice.




In all seriousness half a brain looks at that and sees the list of things detrimental and dangerous to the function of the automobile and others.
