Lots of interesting news today

pretty fascinating

And actually a gross oversimplification, and is misleading about things here on Earth.
Its not really "two speeds of sound" but really a continuum of some sort, dependent on frequency. They just sampled two different frequency ranges. It's most likely a nonlinear continuum.

Even here on Earth this is true, "sound" is just a compression wave passing through air, and the rate it can travel depends on its frequency. It just happens that the human audioble range is low and narrow enough that it doesn't make much of a difference within our atmosphere.

So, um, nobody asking, dafuq was dude doing crossing a freeway on foot?

I saw a few unconfirmed reports that his car had either broken down or had run out of gas. It's interesting though that SHP said "unknown reasons."

And shit like that happens all the time.

But I'd also think a guy with his means could at least call somebody to come pick him up. And there's a big difference between walking along the shoulder... where you should be... and crossing the highway.

I'm sure the real story will come out soon enough. Whatever it is, it's gonna suck for that truck driver.

I very much dislike the phrasing “hit by.” Like when someone is hit by a train. That’s where the train (truck) lives. That’s where it’s supposed to be and doing what it’s supposed to do. It didn’t sneak up on you. It (probably) didn’t swerve to hit you on purpose. You went into its path.

So the truck was hit by the human? And equal and opposite forces and whatnot

Nerd. But I understand what you mean.

Yea...even on our tiny speck of a planet the speed of sound varies based on a number of factors. Stands to reason that 'sound' would not be the same on another planet.

I’ve heard a saying for the better part of my life and, although I might not be smart enough to employ it to the fullest, I have tried: “Words mean things”.

We bend over backwards to defend dumb behavior and criminal behavior. Same thing as 'car plows into parade'

Why do we not say it like it is? What is the purpose?

Or, why is race/color always involved in any criminal activity reporting? Yet, we are supposed to be a society that doesn’t define people by their race, color, creed, etc.

I.E. “a white copy shot a black man today”
Or “an Asian women was raped by a Mexican immigrant (possible read: illegal alien)”

It’s like we just love shooting ourselves in the proverbial foot.

It's been my experience when the crime has been committed by an African American then the race is never broadcast. "Police are looking for a man between 30 and 40 wearing a red hoodie, jeans and sneakers". If the person is white or latino they will typically include their race.

This is an observation I've been paying close attention too for quite some time now, and have YET to hear a description of a "Black male" or "African American".
Most recently the Sacramento shooter. Hell you have to go to UK news outlets to even find out who they arrested But just making this observation will make me racist

I do think you're racist, but it's only because of your vehicle choices! :flipoff2:
