Wow, how would any adult possibly have known that? The government should protect us from ourselves!
 
Batten down the hatches. I suspect there will be some riots coming. Split decision that's pretty complicated on the Trump immunity case.

The decision isn't complicated if you don't twist it with partisan perspectives (I know, impossible). Trump, or any future president, can make the case that they were acting in their official capacity when they supposedly committed an offense that they are being charged for.

So, Trump can claim his delaying and contesting of the election results (two out of three charges for the election fraud) were due to his consideration in his official role as the President. The third charge of trying to use substitute delegates might be a bit harder to excuse with this ruling. Similarly, when Biden withheld Ukrainian foreign aid to get them to fire a prosecutor, that was also done in an arguably official capacity.

On the flip side, if the President gets drunk and mows down a pedestrian with an SUV, I'd say that goes on the "unofficial" side.

I definitely see your logic, but I can also see how the water can get real muddy real quick.
