NC needs to see how Virginia does it. It is so much better and smoother up here. You get your tags and license all at one place. They have TV's, comfy chairs and nice updated buildings to be in. See, I wouldn't mind the appointment thing if they actually held to it. Our 0930 appointment at the ss office didn't happen until 1100!
I don't like how you can only make an appointment like 2 months out and they all fill up immediately and you can't just select a time and find an open office. So instead you have to click on each office and try to find one in a couple month window. My license was up in December. I tried to schedule an appointment back in June or something when I realized it was expiring, but nothing available and you can't book out a few months. It's a friggin database, it's not hard, they just choose to make it stupid.
I'm sure it will all be better by the time you have to get licenses for your youngest, lol. What a shit show.
There are islands of sanity. I hate to divulge this. But Stedman office is sane, competent, and manages walk-ins. You show up early in the morning and they give you a same day return time. That's the only way Mark and I could get him in to get a driving test anywhere in a 200 mile radius.
