same. I grew up just above salem lake on Linville Rd. We would ride our BMX bikes daily all the way around salem lake (this was before it was a park and supported by the county so if seen, we were chased by the game warden) as well as all the way down Linville rd to 150, and on down to the convince store in sedge garden several miles away.
Yep, road the BMX bike everywhere. My buddies and I never walked. I can't remember what age I was when I got my Centurion Caveletto 12 spd and started riding even further from home, but I was probably 12-13.

The importance of that last point cannot be overstated. I think that might be the single greatest undermining of democratic process that regularly occurs in our current shit show of a government. It allows both sides to simultaneously make the other look bad while voting for their own pork projects and benefit.
