I think the value is in the fact they can keep and repair their current equipment instead of having to replace it all. Its a problem for the manufacturers, but a solution for the stores. My dad did commercial refrigeration all his life, and the cost driver of the R12 and R22 production bans was insane. Something that had been a couple bucks a pound was suddenly $500+ per pound, and you couldn't just replace the equipment because of lead times. So he would find and fix the leaks, and Food Lion or whoever would spend $3000 on refrigerant that used to cost $40 or something.
