I think the value is in the fact they can keep and repair their current equipment instead of having to replace it all. Its a problem for the manufacturers, but a solution for the stores. My dad did commercial refrigeration all his life, and the cost driver of the R12 and R22 production bans was insane. Something that had been a couple bucks a pound was suddenly $500+ per pound, and you couldn't just replace the equipment because of lead times. So he would find and fix the leaks, and Food Lion or whoever would spend $3000 on refrigerant that used to cost $40 or something.

Okay now explain to me how this is going to drive the cost of groceries down like the President claims....

Unless every store was replacing their system RIGHT NOW it seems like a tiny portion of expenses and a trivial thing seen by us at best.

Even then, grocery store companies aren’t going to pass that savings on to the customers, it will go to the stockholders.

It won’t. I know it’s hard to believe the President is making a claim that isn’t true, but I think we got him this one time.
