[Mar 30, 2012] 1st Annual Uwharrie Jamboree (Troy, NC)

"Bringing all Uwharrie OHV users together to aid in recruiting volunteers
and to raise awareness to TREAD Lightly! so that the Uwharrie National
Forest OHV Trail System can develop and be maintained."
Uwharrie OHV Jamboree - Mission Statement

A separate discussion, unrelated to Scott's upcoming event, has been spun off into its own thread in Chit Chat.

Starting to get excited!!! And it's a payday weekend that weekend ... !!!! :):):)

Sent from my microwave using a teleportation device.

Its been way too long since I have been on the trail. I think I am going to have to finally make it out for this.

Since I haven't been on here in forever and don't know anybody I would love to meet up with some people who are planning to run the trails. Is anyone here putting together a group?

Stop by the "Uwharries Edge" booth at the Jamboree. They will be leading trail rides throughout the weekend on private property.

Just ask someone if you can tag along. That's how I ended up with the Carolina Trail Blazers! If they tell you no, kick em in the balls and ask the next person!

HAHA yeah i'm not too worried about finding people at URE opening day. Haven't ran with the trail blazers in 9 years. I was just wondering if there was a group of NC4x4 members getting together.

Quick question: Will there be both the 'Sasquatch Scramble' and also the walk/run 5K?

Quick question: Will there be both the 'Sasquatch Scramble' and also the walk/run 5K?
The Sasquatch Scramble was cancelled by Outreach America so we replaced it with a 5k that is taking place in Troy. Mainly, because we had a vacant web page and the
sponsor Montgomery Community College (5k) where nice to us. :)

What private property and what are the trails like?
The Jamboree is going to be the first use by the general public of these new OHV trails. I don't want to give to much info as we are hoping as many people as possible will
come and take a tour of the property over the weekend. There will be lead trail rides leaving the Jamboree at intervals and one must sign up for the rides. This is like an open house so there is
no charge. There will be a charge when the property opens on a regular basis. We are working on the trails tomorrow and Saturday trying to finish a loop for the Jamboree. Lets put it this way -
the outdoor opportunities are MANY!

What's the recommended build level for traversing the private trails? Can someone do it in my DD stock XJ on street tires or will you need something bigger?

The first trail we have open to the public, by Jamboree time, will be a very scenic trail and a 1 to 2 out of 5. Stock XJ, stock size rubber add aggressive tread. Possible light paint scratches from branches and mud in the fender wells.
:driver:

Anybody planning on doing some camping while down there next weekend and if so where at, Scott will their be camping aloud on your grounds? Just trying find some people to meet up with from the board to do some camping Friday night and possibly Saturday night

I don't think I will have the zj ready in time. I might hafta ride up there in the car and check it out though.
