This really hits home for me. A large part of my job is over seeing the bathroom usage of middle schoolers. Middle schoolers seem to be the group most incapable of handling any bathroom privileges at all. They are old enough and big enough to handle it. But yet they go to the bathroom to fight, vape, and generally fuck shit up. We don't have the staff to supervise the bathrooms during class time so we have to limit bathroom breaks. It's really a shitty situation that could be avoided if middle schools weren't straight up assholes. To say that it is only a few kids that abuse the bathroom breaks is incorrect. It would be closer to 25%. It's pretty dumb. I'm not looking forward to 8/29.

True story, West Cary Jr. high 1978 I was there. A bad apple that had flunked about 3 or 4 times and was suspended many times for smoking in the bathrooms, skipping etc. He wrote graphic pictures and profanity on the walls in halls and the bathrooms w a black magic marker. He'd flame teachers sometimes but the most were aimed at the principal Mr. Cobb. Everybody new who was doing it but he had not been caught. Mr. Cobb was watching him like a hawk. The bad boy went into a men's bathroom between periods and 5 or 6 guys ran out of the door in a hurry laughing. Cobb saw them and he ran to the door as the bad boy ran out he ran in. There was a BOOM! The dude had flushed M-80 in a toilet and it exploded the toilet. Cobb staggered out the door and his shirt/pants were wet, he must of been standing in front that toilet. That was last time I saw the dude as he went to juvie for along time, I guess he kept up his mischief there.
