My new digs - aka the new shop

If you don't mind me asking, about how much does a section of those racks cost? Ive been tossing the idea around of trying to find a set or two for my new shop, but haven't really looked into it yet.

I've been a HUGE fan of pallet racks for a number of years, used them to outfit a couple different businesses I've worked with and have them in my home shop as well.

The last time I bought them they were $75 for (12-14') uprights and $18 (8') per cross beam. I have paid as much as $90 for uprights (20') and $25 for beams (12').

There are always a few craigslist ads for them, but typically they will link to a supplier or wholesaler that will be helpful in freight as well.

The yahoos on c-list that sell them individually usually think they are made of gold and that busted-ass used ones are worth the same as fresh painted new ones.

I can't remember the breakdown of the prices for individual parts, but for three used 14' uprights, twelve 12' beams, and the wood decking I'm in them for about $780. Really not a bad price when you consider that is for 72' of 4' deep shelving, with space to add an additional 24' at the top. Plus the 24' of floor space under them.

Got the lift installed last night! Still need to finish the hydraulics and the power, but getting there!

Now all you need is a forklift for loading/unloading pallet racks and putting the XJ shells on the trailer to haul to the scrapyard.

Make sure you get an indoor/outdoor capable forklift. Warehouse style are great until you high center on a piece of gravel.

Hey @transman731 I just sent you a message didn't wanna hijack this thread.
