NC OHV license plate, spinoff thread...

If you could join forces with the other groups seems 300 would be easy to achieve.

I think 300 just from NC4x4 would be easily achieved. I mean, really, its only $20 more per year than a standard tag

NC4x4 would be an option but, I was kind of hoping that this could be worked in with an existing group so we could just push more $$$ towards something that is already organized versus spending more time doing what is already being done. Kind of not trying to re-invent the wheel but just to get more $$$ for the cause to the groups that are already working.

I was thinking about using something other than 4x4 but try to push something about being conservationalists for trails. I think this would go over much better with legislators and may even get great support from the public as well.

Maybe we could get some businesses that have this type of customer to get company vehicles tagged with this plate? I'm just thinking outloud...

I'm in for 2

I'd be in for 2.

Already have mine personalized and would definitely upgrade to special interest. Might go for two more. It'd look nice on my Kia. :p

I would be in for one.

I mean even frat/sorority's can get theme plates like this. Can't be that hard.

My fiancee wants the save the sea turtles one, I would be down for a tread lightly or UFWDA one.

Anyone know if they are available as weighted tags?

Our club treasurer looked into us having our own tags made, and iirc, you would be able to get one even if you run weighted tags.

We do not have enough people to do it, so I would be down for probably 4-6

Just think, if we get this going then we can shoot for a green sticker program. 100% funds go to OHV use.

that would be nice.

OK, well I'd like to get a petition going for all of the supporters of this. We need as many signatures as possible.

So, to start this off, please send me an e-mail with your full name, address, a sentence or 2 about your support, and how many tags you'd be interested in.

Please send them to rck0203@ecu.edu

I want to get as many as possible e-mails and have them printed off when I work on setting up a meeting with some legislators.

Something I'd like to add...

If you are sensitive about sending your full contact information, at least send your full name and city/town plus zip and a method for contacting you either phone number (with area code) or a valid e-mail

I posted this over on Pirate, I wonder if we'd get any additional support there that isn't already here?

Also, anyone know of any other NC area boards that would be beneficial to post this on?

Thanks Shawn.

If you go to the NCDMV website and look each plate up, it will tell you how much extra each one is and what organization receives the $$$. Not just for this OHV tag, but its good info for anyone interested in any of the other tags to make sure you know or can research the receiving organization before supporting them. I'm sure many at the DMV have purchased a special interest plate not knowing where the $$$ is going, exactly.

Keep the e-mails coming. Post on Pirate is a little slow.

For everyone on other boards, feel free to post this info up. Hell, I don't care if you copy and paste the text from my posts. I can't really join every forum and check every one every day. Thats where your help comes in. Just make sure to copy and paste the post about getting e-mails together and sent to me :D

Thanks for the support. This e-mail should be even easier than writing a letter to a legislator so you all shouldn't have an excuse not to do it :)

Maybe it is time to start this and get a plate to go along with it

http://www.nc4wda.org/
simple.. so money stays and focuses on NC area.. from outer banks to mountains etc.. only thing southern has focused on in NC is tellico.. and I think other areas need focus in NC also.

I think this has serious merit Ken!

Many of us have attended VA4WDA events (drawing numbers that rival the DR), where ALL the major VA clubs come together to participate. Collectively, they make a huge difference in their trail systems by combining efforts in an organized, FOCUSED fashion.

Draw your own correlations from all the NC clubs, each doing it's own thing, independent of the whole, "shotgunning" their efforts rather than joining together...

(not meant to be a slam, just pointing out the differences & advantages of unification)
