NC OHV license plate, spinoff thread...

yep. we need to unite for NC if we want to keep our trails open. Hopefully we can do that.

However, with the responses I've received so far, its no wonder Tellico was closed :(

I think this has serious merit Ken!

I agree! One of the major problems SFWDA has is the huge area the association covers and the fact that their focal point of support has been Tellico. While supporting Tellico is a good thing, it has also had the effect of alienating some of the 4wd community that live to far away from Tellico, are having 4wd issues in their own backyard and not getting support from SFWDA, don't care for high challenge areas, don't want to travel so far, etc.

A more focused NC effort might be of more benefit right now to our 4wd $.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bailing on SFWDA or the RT effort. In fact one of the things that has been discussed at SFWDA meetings is how to have local clubs and groups more involved with their areas and issues. SFWDA as a volunteer organization just cannot contend, logistically, with everything that is happening in each state.

I'm open to anything that works for NC.

Keep sending e-mails. From the views on this thread, there should be MANY more e-mails than I've received to date.

Wait, you want emails?

Send e-mails for your supprt to rck0203@ecu.edu

remember to include your contact info, city and state as well as a sentence or 2 expressing your support for a NC specialty plate for OHVs.

To date, I have 15 e-mails :shaking:

email sent.

we got more than 15 come on boys and girls

might wanna post this up in the local group sections of our site too...

I see you got it up on the krawlers site too

Printed off condensed version of the thread and handed it out to the guys in the shop where I work. They love the idea and you should be getting a lot of emails from the Asheville Area!!!:driver:

sweet. got a few more emails in the last couple of days but not nearly as many as I'd expect or need.

I'm not on many of the specialty forums, so feel free to post the info on the toyota, cherokee, club, and other 4x4 related sites

Just try to get 'em to email their Senators and Congressmen :(

I can't get e-mails with 2 sentences from everyone. I don't think a whole letter to their senator/rep would work well. Once we get our proposal in the hands of the representatives, that'll be the time for everyone to flood the mailboxes with letters for support.

What I'd like to do is come to my local representative with a huge stack of support with more than enough offers to get plates than what would be necessary. It wouldn't give the representative an "out" to say no to the support. If my representative doesnt want to help, we'll move on to another one but we gotta start somewhere :)

Get those e-mails sent to me: rck0203@ecu.edu

Give me a full name and location (contact info and address would be good as well) with how many tags you'd be interested in. Include a sentence or 2 about your thoughts of the NCOHV license tag and the support it would give to keep NC $$$ in NC as well as attract outside $$$ from other states. There is nothing representatives like more than bringing in more $$$ to the state. I'm sure they hate local NC $$$ going out of state as well :)

Once I get a good number of letters, I'd like to develop a core committee to work with on this issue to help propose this to some local state representatives. So, if you are familiar with the land use issues of NC (Tellico, etc.) or are familiar with the processes of conducting business with state representatives, feel free to send me a PM. I want to get knowledgable heads together to knock this out effectively.
