Well we made some progress...

First off thanks to you all of the Trail Jammers that showed up in the bad weather. We had icy trees along with pouring rain.

We managed to pick a trailer full of trash and get soaked at the same time  Really amazing how much piles up in the parking areas, we got close to 4 full bags there along with a couple tires with rims.

I was really surprised the photographer from the news paper showed up, He has impressed with the effort we were making and surprised we were out in the conditions. He snapped a ton of shots and said it will be published the week sometime, along with that some of the shots should be in the "Buzz" paper on Thursday.

Left the camera at home, due to the conditions, But I got this one with my phone.

Thanks again to everyone. Hopefully if any thing this will bring some awareness to actually how much trash gets dropped. I know I am more aware.

Huge props to TJC for braving the weather and getting the job done! You guys had a good excuse but made it happen anyway! That's what we need in individuals and clubs and you guys made me and the NC4x4.com community proud!

Good Job

Good job guys and sorry again for not helping out just to many icy spots on Old Fort MTN for me to pull my jeep over, and end up down the cliff lol. If you guys want to try another day as long as there is no ice i am there. Thanks again guys for representing the 4x4 community and doing a good job!!

Rain rain go away, come again when I'm working and don't care!
I want to thank everyone that came out to URE yesterday and also those who had situations that prevented them from making it out. I know you would have been there. Everyone worked really hard and I'm sure lost their breath several times walking the hills. I know I sure did! I met so many people and had a great time! We got a kick out of one the rangers who came up to us at the double parking lot and said, "Guys you can't leave that trash there!" We had been stacking the trash from the parking lot near the loading ramp. He assumed we were unloading our trash there. lol Nope, those 4 bags were just from the double parking lot alone! MtnYJ's group were thanked for their efforts by ATVers and 4x4ers alike. I'm glad we got some exposure. The event was a great success and an awesome learning experience.
And for the record, open/open suburbans do great at URE. tlinker48's sub tore those trails up and he did every obstacle! This was his first time wheelin' at URE. I was very impressed with that beast! Oh, and he has earned the nickname "Sub". No, not because he drives a suburban, but because he launched it through the big puddle on rocky mtn loop as if it were a submarine! Ended up getting water in the distributor. 100 ft later he busted a bead as well. Everyone pitched in and got the tire back on the rim and inflated. I donated a tire valve and watched intently! heheh I still want my steak dinner for all the watching I did. Hard work!
I plan to do this again next year. I'm thinking a bi-annual cleanup event would be ideal. So look out for this in upcoming event posts! I have some ideas about how to better organize the event next year. (Yep, one of those includes me getting there on time! heheh) I encourage everyone to attend and bring all your friends next year!
lol heard about that , the guy in the xj that tried to go around you guys and busted his bead, is greg a regular wheeling buddy of mine, wish i could have made it out there to help out guys

Me & Lorenzo were the Daniels trash team,,, that first ledge is getting pretty deep. we spent about 2 hours there trying to get up , i had to winch up that first ledge then winch Zo up it . No one make it up except for the guy in the zuk with the moto engine ,
we picked up alot of trash , but only had 1 bag , so when it got full i just threw the rest of the trash in the yj,,, had a good time , but when i went out sunday morning there was some trash were we had cleaned up already .. I think we should do this atleast 4 times a season,, what do you guys think?

I really hate I wasn't able to go. I had some things come up at the last minute at home Friday night and couldn't leave. Needless to say I wasn't able to get any sleep Friday night. Looks like a good haul though and thanks to everyone that was able to come out. Hopefully this will show the greenies that we do care.

yeah we spent 3 hours on the trail and had 3 damaged rigs plus two more behind us once JT and Danny had to turn back.
JT got up fine, Danny bent a leaf spring, and dented a rim, we got it to hold air a little with a BMFH but they had to go back and get a spare and I forget who was behind them but had a black toyota that lost its front driveshaft on a full extension on the first ledge.. he had to turn back after re-assembly.

There were two others behind them a red suzuki and another toyota. Toyota stuck in the rut leaning on his mirror and the suzuki had trouble holding air, we helped EVERYONE out and that is why it took us forever to get through. But thats what we do. Never leave anyone behind.

I'd say there is now 3 ledges on daniel. ;)
wonder whats gonna happen over the winter with the step up deep left-side rut before the original first ledge....

yeah we got a good amount of trash and by the time we got to the 3 way it uphill -it was about 1 oclock.

So we met up with some of the CTB guys at the double parking lot and we needed to head back to the outpost for some munchies.
Didn't expect to be there so long with the family on Daniel... but thats how it goes about half the time there ya know.

So sorry couldn't stick around.
One thing I wish I heard was where to put the trash and when/where to meet up. Robert thought 1pm for a head count.... not sure tho.
There was some confusion so maybe next time speak a little louder
Gus eventually went back to deposit it... cant rmbr where tho.

Also I went out sunday with a buddy of mine from Raleigh. Slippery as snot but loads of fun.

Oh and I'm gonna write to Santa to bring Lorenzo a winch for xmas

Oh and Dylan somehow keeps winning the ones with my names on them.
:p
