URE TEAM:
------------

Looks like we might have some flier/logos after all. I'm gonna have them printed on card stock so they'll be a bit sturdier. Staples seems to be the quickest and cheapest place to get that done. I'm going to try and get 50 sheets with the logo printed twice per sheet so they can be cut in half. (100 printed logos) If anyone else has better ideas or knows where I can get these printed on card stock or similar medium for less than $50 let me know.
take some pics for me man. since i cant go!

I did my interview for the News Paper today (Over the phone). So we should have some public awareness of this.

Basically the interview consisted of what this is about and why were doing it, and back ground on what we are all about, I made sure she was aware that this all came from NC4x4.COM and that the much larger clean up will be conducted at URE, and that we are just trying to do our part to help the forest service maintain the trail systems so they will be available to us in the future. She did mention if we had seen any closings, I informed her of the status of Tellico and that we are trying to be proactive in the matter with our remaining pubic lands. I told her she could google Tellico Rescue for more details on the matter (wasn't trying to make about tellico). She went on to ask what type of people attend these clean ups, I let her know it is a family ordinated hobby and thats what we expect to see show up.

She took my contact info, The address for the web site, and said she will print that info for people to contact me in the area if there interested in helping out. So I guess this will run before Sunday, There still send a photographer up on Sunday morning to take photos. I will see if I can get clarification on when it will be printed.

I just emailed her the PDF of the clean up signs, Maybe she will print that also.

Thanks to csudman for putting these together for me.

P.S. the one I sent her has proper spelling, its just in PDF and I can't IMG link it

I'm going to join you guys for the clean-up at Uwharrie. My Jeep isn't street friendly, so I can't meet at the Outpost. Where would be a good place close to the trails to meet you Saturday morning? I'll probably leave my tow rig and trailer at the Art Lilley campground, but could meet anywhere I can access by gravel. Look forward to meeting some people and cleaning up the trails!

Tim

Tim, we are gonna have our trucks and jeeps on trailers also, for the most part. We are just gonna meet at the Outpost and leave out from there and probably park in the double parking lot. Just gonna meet at the Outpost to get a head count and come up with a game plan for the clean up. More capable trucks and jeeps will do the harder trails. Others will do what is more feasible for their trucks or jeeps. C ya there.

x2 on what mbost said. Planned to meet at the outpost and then go to double parking lot and split into groups. You can wait for us at the double parking lot if you like or drive your tow rig to the outpost. Up to you.

URE Team signs are printed. Just had them printed on premium paper. I bought a small strip of magnet in case anyone wants to put it on the outside of their rig. Otherwise I have scotch tape to tape it to the inside of your windows. I have 50 signs total.

Perfect, see you at the Outpost! Silver Dodge 2500 4x4, white YJ on 37" Iroks...

Please be sure to complete the poll in this thread so that we can get a head count estimate. I need to tell the rangers how many we will have and how many tools and other supplies we will need.

Well the Trail Jammers are now an official volunteers for the Grand Father Mountain Ranger station.

So we are good to go for Sunday.

I am printing up a sign in sheet for all that show up for brown mt clean up, Your name along with the hours you volunteer will be logged with the forest service. We will clean the main parking lot first in order to maybe catch some of the late arrivals. We should be there until 9:30am at least.

My plan is to have two groups, One group work around trail #1 and the other group work up trail #8 meeting at the top, The large rocky area I believe is close to the middle, Or we just keep working until we meet in the middle.

I have a small trailer that can be pull along on the trail to hold bags.

Has anyone gave thought to putting plastic and cans in bags that could be recycled? I just know that allot of what we pick up will be that. It is illegal in Burke County to throw away plastic bottle and alum. cans. I thought about clear bags for that and colored bags for trash.
So we are on for Sunday 13th morn at 9ish for Brown Mtn clean up day?

should be there as long as my ass gets in gear....
at least the weather changed - was 70% rain now its at 10% chance.

Paul be sure to stop by the house Sunday when yall get up.
last weekend - lets go wheelin!

I am expecting around 10 CTB members who may or may not be shown in the poll. This our last club ride of the year. We are meeting at The Outpost at 9 a.m. for a short club meeting and then will ride and pick up trash.

Okay, I need to clarify the dates. URE Team is going Saturday December 12th. Is the Brown team planning on going Sunday December 13th?

I want to make sure there is no confusion between the teams. All are welcome to clean up @ URE on Sunday as well but Saturday will be the main event.

Any of your guys need any day passes?

I will be at the outpost at 9am to meet up. Then drive to the big parking lot to unload.
I have a year pass.

Newpaper report

Morganton News Hearld said:
As the off-roading season comes to an end at Brown Mountain Off Highway Vehicle trails, the Trail Jammers Club is taking initiative by cleaning up the 5 miles of trails available to four-wheel vehicles.
Starting at 9 a.m. Sunday, the club will pick up trash in the main parking lot, then will move onto the trail, club member Mike Burrell said. The club has invited the public to join the endeavor.
Burrell said the group got the idea from the online community forum www.nc4x4.com. Someone in Albemarle had organized a clean-up of the Uwharrie OHV.
Burrell said by cleaning the trail, the club hopes to ensure its use in years to come.
In October, the U.S. Forest Service announced the permanent closure of Upper Tellico OHV trail to correct erosion problems in the Upper Tellico River watershed.
"What we're trying to do is allow (the U.S. Forest Service) to have more budgeting and helping out where we can and doing our part to clean up," Burrell said. "We can't come in and maintain, but we will do what they will allow us to."
Interested parties should e-mail burrellsjeep@gmail.com.

Kinda miss quoted at the end, but hey it will help
