Sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats youo_O

I never wanted to hunt bears though I was invited to hunt them w dogs a few times down east years ago. I talked to a man recently who told me bears that eat corn and blueberries have the best tasting meat of any game animal in the country. Now Im thinkin bout huntin some bears :smokin:

I don't know how I quoted YYJP? Texting on my phone i guess. There are more than a few ramps at falls.Go to ncwildlife.org and you can look at maps of all of the gamelands in the state and the location of boat ramps. Find an area you want to hunt and use the closest ramp.
Thanks, I'll have to take a look! That's what I was figuring on anyway if I ever tried it.
I may wait until next year to venture on public game lands and do scouting in the off season...we'll see.

Saw a spike Saturday evening about 5 yards from my stand and watched him walk onto an old runway and walk 1200' out of sight. Gonna give him 2-3 years...unless I haven't tagged anything by December.
Sunday morning I saw four...two 4 point bucks at 80-90 yards (pass until Dec or 2-3 years) & one doe/one buck at 200 yards (both a good size, but too far for the smoke pole).
Sunday evening saw 25 turkeys (not a single one with a beard) devouring all my corn. Afterwards I was eating supper with the family & got this picture from my cousin:

Whirlwind of action last night in PA. It was hard to keep up with all the deer running around and chasing. It was fairytale rut action. Sat through some hard rain and tagged a buck with a 20yd shot. Arrow entered high quartering away and stayed in him. After nearly an hr of not finding any blood a friend found him laying on top of the lumenock about 120yds from the shot. Rage 3 blade made its hole but it was plugged with fat and guts. There wasn’t any blood on his hide. Roughly 26” of arrow was in him and a lung was destroyed. Heavy buck with a very swollen neck, had a tine freshly broken off.

I’m used to dragging deer uphill in rough terrain. I called 3 of my close friends who love tracking deer. One was on the other farm we hunt 6 miles away. He drove his sxs over and straight through the woods to pick him up once we found him. I’m still smiling about not having to drag this brute. The biggest body deer I’ve ever killed and the biggest any of our crew has seen this year.

Damn that's a big ol boy. Why's he making that face?

Nice deer too :flipoff2:

Food plots are rocking, my brothers camera caught the after shot, in the second picture you can see the rage 4 blade extreme shot was a little low from 40yds, bled like crazy then disappeared after the blood trail stopped just like a ghost, clean pass through, hope my brothers bad luck doesn’t rub off on me

That’s gotta be a dead deer. Any tracking dogs around? @guffey24

yeah we tracked him with a dog to a local farmers land, we went and asked permission to look for the deer and he said no, said if he found it he would be in touch

kinda shitty but he has his land leased to hunters also, just shocked it ran so far, the shot was honestly pretty good

We don’t understand why he ran so far, we tracked him over 300 yds until we just found a few drops of blood

Did you find the arrow?

My uncle sent me two pics from Saturday morning:

Buck is a 195# 10 pointer (estimated score of 130) & hog is estimated at 200#. He's gonna grind them into bacon deer burgers.

Triple check the law. I’ve been doing a ton of research on trespassers and how to avoid/prosecute them. There are laws in most states that allow fence crossings and legal trespassing if you are chasing a wounded deer.

You can legally track a wounded deer onto a neighboring property with or without the landowners permission in NC. I always try and ask but they can't stop you legally. Get DNR involved. They take that seriously.

we got DNR involved, farmer says there is no sign of wounded/dead deer on his property, DNR asked how we knew the deer was on his property, we said we don’t, we said we lost the blood trail and the dog lead us this way

the farmer let DNR onto the property but it poured the rain since then, he gave a quick search then nothing
