No luck today, but took the boys back out. Took my grandpa's single six and JC Higgins 100.1.

Tilley got a pass at the field trail. Judge was really impressed with her for as young as she is and how little training I've done with her. Several people stopped and said looks like a mirror image of her dad running in the field. Which I'll take he's won more akc and ukc titals than any other EB in the US right now.
Ember said hold my beer and sit back Imma be out there kicking ass next year

Let me oldest skip an hour of school weds so we could get a hunt in on the last day. Not a lot of birds, but he had a good time. My youngest son wants to go next year. They're going to kill me dragging that kayak with both of them.

Field trials have started to become alot like a good wheeling trip. sometimes stressful, but always a lot of fun spending time with like minded people, drinking beer and eating good food.

And i dont look like the crazy dog hoarder there when several guys show up with 10+ dogs and i "JUST" have 4

Bought a bow for turkey season. Needed something easier to draw seated and hold for a while. PSE Brute Force. Stepping up a little this year. Have 2 hens and a Jake decoys, and got some camo netting for a mobile blind. Now, just need to find some birds!

Well, munchkin has started begging to go turkey hunting now. Ordered him a Carlsons turkey choke for my 870 youth and we will go get him some tags. Now to find a bipod.

Whats everyone's setup for thunder chickens this year?

I don't have one. :(

For years I've wanted to try my hand at turkey hunting. And for years I've never managed to have the time.

Maybe next year? :)

In other news, April 1st is the first day to put in for Maine Moose.

Now that I own a .45-70, I'm ready to be drawn.

If you can find the time, I've got a setup. Can't guarantee we get on any birds, but we can definitely try!

Well we have tags, 2 shootin options, a mediocre caller, and one VERY excited 5 year old. We might just be dangerous in the morning lol.

You're only about an hour and a half away!

Is now a bad time to admit that I only own one shotgun, and it's a Mossberg 590A1? (I really know jack about shotguns, I just have this one from when I used to shoot in 3-gun competitions.)

Not sure exactly where you are, but I hunt a pretty broad area. I hunt all along the yadkin river, from kerr Scott down to tuckertown on public. Also not opposed to running up in the mountains. Like I said no guarantees we see a bird, but we will have a good time.

Birds are hammering here in wilkes. Just not on the public we are on lol. Hearing them all over though. But, we have seen a bird! Ol hen worked through.

Edit: had a flock work through, they hung up maybe 100 yards off in the finger of the field.

We pulled up to our first spot, and there were 6 vehicles already there, on a 60 acre tract. Needless to say, we moved on lol. Glad we did though. David had a ball.

The turkeys were fornicating in the field beside my house this morning. Things are getting serious. Ol boy finally wore one down and she gave in. I was rooting for him. Never seen turkeys get it on before. They go at it much longer than chickens 😎

The bite isn’t very good off of my dock. Drove across town to a family pond and got skunked. Went to a friend’s dock, skunked. Came home and fished my dock, caught 6 fish within 10 minutes. First world problems. Had a blast with my man though.
