It all sounds like positive change to me. It definitely takes time and money to fix or undo years of disrepair or just hard use. I see lots of good ideas and suggestions and I look forward to hearing more and hope we hear direct from Nita.

I agree with Snappy as well as others, We need to keep this positive and look at it as an opportunity to improve a great place to wheel. It is easy to get discouraged over pricing, But at least we have someone that is interested working with us on it.

Definitely sounds like things are headed in the right direction. I'll be happy to see parking lot improvements. The bath houses are adequate for my needs as is, but don't mind enhancements. :)

I look forward to seeing her on the board and all of us helping her make this our dream come true.

x2 i have no problem paying $15ea. for my wife and i but atv riders should be the same also all atv riders should require helmets!
now with all the bickering back and forth about the prices and condition of the place, witch ARE things that concern evreyone who have posted a comment.i can't help but wonder why you feel that you should make the rules for the atv riders, witch concerns only that person.

GREAT NEWS...
I need to get on this...this could be a very positive development....
Doug, wanna host again???/
Sure my 2nd call with her yesterday morning was very positive, and we discussed the things snappy talked about:lol:

the first day was probably not real good to her with all the hate calls she got.....

so keep it posistive folks chins up:beer:

I'm happy to see clean and updated. I'm kind of a germaphobe. I'm willing to pay more for the ammenaties. I almost always bring my boys. I can see adding a passenger fee because they will be using the bathrooms and if they camp will be using the showers. I hope they will update the map as well. I get lost everytime I go there.

In the whole scheme of things I can understand needing to charge more. I'm glad she lowered the riders fee to $11.

It does drive me crazy that people would show up and not pay. That's a thief in my book.

just a comment to line 5 on post 59.

Sounds as if she isn't set in stone what will happen up there. That's a good thing. I do think we ALL need to keep positive about this place needs to remain open. I don't think all the changes how ever subtle or extreme will please everyone, but at least she recognizes a need for improvements(started to say change but we all know who else uses that)
I look forward to new management and improvements.
Let's please all keep this positive

As far as fees go, heck I will spring for an extra rider anytime I am there, just to lessen the burden on someone.

as far as im concerned, if the place stays open, ill pay what she asks.

she could easily sell out for a whole lot more than what she makes off of us...

Well I am just getting into the sport of four wheeling, and it is good to see that the park will remain open and that long term improvements are in the works so that this park remains successful and open for years to come. I don't like to spend a lot of money and it wouldn't be a whole lot for me alone, but it is pointless to have a 4x4 vehicle if there are not a lot of places to enjoy it. I would love to ride there after I foot the $2000+ it will cost to make my jeep trail worthy again.

I'm not poor, just cheap.

Just me and my wife here, but I'll agree with this statement :D

I don't really have a problem paying the fee to ride there, especially if they fix things up some. The bathrooms are horrible, my wife (and I) hate using them.

That should be a non issue anymore. Anita said they have been working on this already. She's starting with simple stuff and go from there.......
Turtle will give an update tomorrow night with pics.....

BTW Our family of 5 does not go to the movies because it's too expensive. I'm not poor, just cheap.

Right on Matt

It seems like raising the fee to 15 bucks a rig/atv would be enough:confused: adding passenger fees just seems like someone seeing dollars signs at our expense.

You just can't beat 35$ A YEAR at Harlan. No camping/passenger fees. I have family and friends that come with me every time and spend multiple days so the extra $ adds up quick.

1. Greybeard speaketh the truth- most level headed dude in the sport that I know of
2. hope Paul stays well, always a pleasure to see him- a local character to say the least.
3. dont complain about a little cost up when its one of the last good places local- anybody remember crackers neck?
4. a big 'hell yeah' to her for trying to make a $ on the place. why not?

Harlan was free a couple years ago and a good deal right now but I woud be surprised if they don't continue to raise their fees close other parks, maybe not. .

Remember that Harlan gets state or county money if I recall correctly. Simple math will tell you she is not going to get rich. U would be surprised at the cost over a year to keep simple things up.... the money spent on toliet paper alone would blow most peoples minds. The fee increase will be seen in improvements....

Think of it like this. Why not a charge for passengers.
Passengers will use the restrooms/showers
Passengers will throw down trash(although no one should)
passengers will cause just as much wear and tear as a driver

Everyone be patient, this will all work out for the best for all of us.

Main thing is, it's gonna get better and not close

I disagree, partially, passengers may or may not use the facilities etc. You can not say that everyone who goes there does those things. I for one have never used the facilities there. I have been with groups that have rented the cabin and used it's facilities but I see that as a separate thing all together. Yes, most will but not all. For those staying at other lodgings it is highly likely that they do no more than ride the trails.
Facility use should go along with the camping fee not the trail fee in this context. However, I can see how it would be to their advantage to charge non campers to use facilities similar to Arrowhead at URE.

Bring the wife, more than likely she will take the last chance to use the toilet vs popping a squat in the woods.
Passengers just like drivers create a liability as soon as they are on the property.

I see your point but I think 5$ a passenger would be more reasonable.

2 cents, I had exclusive use to 12,500 acres of private land to trail ride with who I wanted to bring and invite. My group would be the ONLY group there! This was FREE! Fuel went up a nickel and people said they couldn't afford the trip! They also stiffed the campground where we all stayed. We went to the local resturant to have dinner with the land owner as thanks I passed the hat for his meal. I was told snce he was a millionare he could buy his own meal! We don't ride there anymore! What I'm trying to get across is you will never please everyone no matter how little the fee.

She told me last Sunday she turned in $600 which was more than ronnie turned in on July 4th which they did a big fireworks and had lots of people there.
