Nissan Titan XD

15 years ago was 2003
Ford 7.3 - 250hp 500 ft lb (6.0 325/560)
Dodge 5.9 - 235 hp 460 ft lb (HOs were 305/550)
Chevy Duramax - 235 hp 500 ft lb

I see a lot of what I feel is over loaded vehicles on the road now a days and have to wonder about em.Just cause they’re rated for something don’t mean its so.

HO is the only one that matters. It's the one that has the numbers that Matt wanted, too. I like that you went and looked up the shitty truck's HP numbers just so you wouldn't be wrong.

To bring this a little bit back on topic...

I wanted the Titan XD to be the tweener truck that I (and the OP) needed. I need to regularly tow 10k pounds and occasionally tow 12-13k pounds, and spend the other 80% of the time getting decent mpg's and not having the cumbersomeness of a full size truck. From an engineering standpoint, the Titan XD should be designed for someone like me, but it gets worse fuel mileage than the 3/4-1 ton trucks, and isn't really much smaller, and if it's anything like the Tundra's I've driven, it has the turning radius of a schoolbus. So I just bought a worn out Ford.

Duramax Diesel Timeline | Horsepower & Torque by Model Year

That says the 300hP rating was for 04 model years. Wouldnt know. Duramax has never been on my radar.

You are backwards. I dont make an argument without first knowing the data. I saw Matt's post and said, "I wonder how long ago that was considered good for 1 tons." Looked it up. Then posted. Then without any data or research in your typical style you corrected me without looking it up.

And you accuse me of cherry picking numbers. Re read my quote, I said
Crap we are 15 years from 1ton trucks being at those numbers.
And it was. Didnt say no vehicle offered better numbers 15 years ago, I simply said that 15 years ago those were new 1 ton numbers. And they are.

Well, 15 years ago, 2004 model year trucks were sitting on dealer lots. So you fucked up there, for starters. I have an 03, and it made 305/555 in stock form. The 04 was a little better than that, and both were under Ford numbers, but all were within spitting distance of the number that Matt said he wished was available in a 1/2 ton today. You went and looked up old-stock, CA-spec, wtfever stuff just to make a point that 15 years ago, you could buy a shitty, underpowered truck that only made a fraction of the power of the other stuff readily available on the market. The answer to "what was considered good 15 years ago" is "about 325hp and 600lb-ft".

Sounds like weak sauce to me.

Special pleading. How cute. You do spend too much time on politico talk these days, dont you?

Uhh your own dodge facts are wrong, at least according to this website ran by your fellow dodge fan bois:
Cummins Horsepower & Torque by Model Year
Cal spec was an 04 only deal.

Hey look, whats that running?
Oh I see its goal posts, again.
I never said "what was considered good", and never asked a question either to be fair, I simply said "Crap we are 15 years from 1ton trucks being at those numbers."
And we are.

But with that I bid the argument a fare ado. Time to log off, drop a few bids at the post office and go watch my daughter play volleyball.

Where's a mod when you need em? Oh, they are off arguing irrelevant semantics in a chitchat thread :flipoff2:

Between Ron and @Fabrik8 I think shawn should be leery of ANY package that arrives in the mail in the next few days

How much do the cummins titans cost? I cant see them towing much better than a gas motor?

@Ron I knew those numbers came from that website and honestly, I'm not sure why they're still there.

All years of the LB7 have the 300hp rating right on the driver's side valve cover. Where the 235hp numbers came from....I have no idea.

And that Duramax 300hp seems to be a heck of a lot faster than the Cummins or Powerstroke with similar numbers.

If Ron and Shawn are done measuring their internet penis’ then I’ll ask the question that I can’t be the only one thinking...

Why not have kept the 3500 and got a gas saving ride for daily duties? Seems way more efficient and cost effective, then truly have plenty of towing capability when it’s really needed. Could have a Tacoma or a civic, S10, etc. Of course, if you just wanted a new truck, and prefer to DD a full size truck, then I get it.

Personally, my truck stays parked and I bomb around in a wore out Camry.
As for the Titan XD, I’ve been curious about towing performance myself. I think they’re ugly as homemade sin, but curious about the performance.

I used to have a 2500 duramax and various DD cars over the years. Ditching them both and getting a 1/2 ton DD that would handle the little towing I do was one of the best decisions of my life.

How much smaller is a 1/2 ton really to DD and park?

ram shows the exact same length and width for a 1500 compared to a 2500. unless your talking about dropping down from a long bed dually.

I get you can find a nicer truck for the money with a 1/2ton.

I'm guessing he went from a longbed dually to a standard bed SRW. That 1.5ft of length and foot of width make a huge difference in DD driveability. But we may never know because I'm pretty sure Shawn and Ron ran him off, haha!

That makes more sense, because strait body to strait body isn't going to do much except smaller mirrors. lol

I think you mean VM Motori...

VMM is another one of the companies acquired and swallowed by FPT, yes they are in there as well.
