I have been doing more and more repairs in my gravel driveway. My 25yo craftsman floor jack gets the job done, but I have to carry it from the garage to the vehicle, and it weighs 85lbs.

Anyone bought into these offroad jacks? The plastic wheels looks like a disaster waiting to happen. Do they work on loose gravel (videos are always hard pack dirt). Stability is my concern.

I see the pro eagle, strongway (northern), and badland (harbor freight) all have options. If it saved my back for a few more years, and meant I don't need to drag out plywood panels for jacking basics, I could be talked into spending the coin.

Not what you're asking about but the aluminum 3 ton jacks from HF are awesome. Soooo lightweight. Best decision I ever made for my back.
Put it on a sheet of plywood.
An AL one w/ big tires would be the shizzit.

You can also get the skid plates for the aluminum ones. It was a popular offroad option before the offroad jacks were released.

The smaller off-road jack from harbor freight looks like the best option, the bigger one is just heavier, there is a Black Friday sale coming up that usually nets 30% off any single item with an itc membership (someone on here would give you their phone number if you dont have one)

I love my harbor freight offroad jack, works great in the yard, gravel, etc.

Mine is the larger one, the balanced handle makes it easy to carry/move

Damnit, I have been avoiding getting one, yall aren't helping

Now I'm going down a rabbit hole for 3 ton vs 1.5
The 3 ton isn’t bad to handle at all. The lock on the jack handle make moving it around really easy (lock it and coast on back bigger wheels). I have only had to drive a couple cars up in blocks to use it. 99% of others work just fine. I will buy the small one soon to try it.

Another vote for the HF offroad jack. I have the 3 ton and it’s solid. Goes everywhere my rig goes.

Huh. Interesting facts - in the HF Badlands offroad jacks, the 1.5T is only 48.7 lbs while the 3 ton is 72 lbs.
But there's only 3/16" difference in lift height.
Small one only needs 5" vs 6.5" clearance to get under.

I've never really looked at this before, but IMO unless you really need to lift more than 3k lbs at a time that little guy seems the way to go.

Nice information as usually theb3 ton is only about an inch too tall if that. But seems weight isn’t far off
