Outspoken to Strangers?

Here is my thing....these cops want to give out tickets and protect the law....All they need to do is call me up...Ill tell them where to sit and I bet they give out over 250 tickets in one day. I work right at a 4 way stop entering a shopping area (grocery store, pizza hut, thai place, etc) I see cars going right through the stop signs, parking in front of places for 20-30 min in a fire lane and my side of town is crawling with cops....its almost like it isn't worth their time.

hrmmm...interesting.

On the stop sign if you ome up to aa 4 way stop and no one is around do you fully stop and look both ways or make like Alabama and Roll On?

I'm all for following laws for the betterment of society, but I am alos capable of using sound judgement on when I can make a call.

On the fire lane , are you talking parking , the driver getting out and going in or pulling up front and letting a passenger out?
Techincally the 2nd option is called standing and not parking. As long as the driver is in the vehiccle and it is cranked it is not in fact illegal. Lazy as fuck? sure. illegal? no.

When I come to a 4 way stop....if there are no cars that I CAN see coming, I still stop and look both ways. you never know what or how fast a car is coming down a street that you don't see that split second that you look and turn your head.

And I am talking about the driver pulling up to a fire lane, putting it in PARK and getting out, locking the car and going into shop....and also even if its the other way around and the driver is in the car and the passenger gets out but the driver remains there in front of a fire lane with car NOT running....its still the same....if the car is in park regardless of who or what is in it, the car is still technically in PARK and is in violation of the law.

It boils down to theres a time to speak up and a time to shut up,you just gotta know which aplies.Goin back to the cop thing around here they will tell on the radio when and where they are gonna have sobriety checks.Never could figure out why they do that.Isnt that the point to catch people???

I think I might just print out a bunch of these >>> http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/20...-fire-scene/U6jeEBScIhlW3YutCLPS8L/story.html

at work and have them in my car at all times and just nicely place one on anyones windshield who does this.

Nothing wrong with a little education.

If you think they are going to take the time to read that and give a shit you might be a little special.

This seems like a much better and funnier option... Sit back and Film the responses. Leave a note saying
"It will wash off with soap and water this time, next time it might not"

I am probably going to buy a few cans of this after watching the prank videos online.

That is just asking for an ass kicking...if you had something on your windshield, wouldn't you read it? I know I would.

If I get my ass whooped for it then so be it... I'm never been much for worrying about consequences though. You can ask anyone who hangs out with me on a regular basis... Including many NC4x4 members.

If it was a bright pink note calling me a douchebag... yeah, I would probably laugh and try to figure out which of my dbag friends did it too.
If it looked like an informational pamphlet about joining the church... No. (That article... gonna be a few pages of paper found in the trash, but if you don't believe me, give it a try... and film the response)

Im not arguing with you, just telling you that I at least glance over something that is put on my door at home, windshield on my car, note on my computer screen, because obviously, someone wanted me to read it, rather it was good news or not.
Im not one to go out looking for trouble or not care about the consequences of my actions, but I do believe in letting people know when I believe they are in the wrong, just not gonna spray paint someones car (even if it is washable) or pull a gun on someone because of some words exchanged. Now I know, saying anything to anyone can have some pretty stout consequences, but I think its how you go about it.
And Ill tell you one thing...if I ever run my mouth and get my ass beat for doing so...you better believe Im gonna think twice about who I run my mouth off to.

I know what you mean... I am just encouraging you to live a little.
Being outspoken and quiet is no way to go through life, and venting all your problems on this forum isn't going to change anything about your day to day life. If something bothers you, say something. That is the problem with this country anymore. We are so afraid of upsetting each other or being politically incorrect that we let everyone walk all over us.

Hell with that. If something bothers me, I say something... Does that bite me in the ass sometimes? Absolutely...
Have I gotten my ass whooped because my mouth wrote checks my ass couldn't cash? Yep... Been there done that.
But have I ever regretted speaking my mind? Not that I can remember...

Just food for thought.

So is it legal to do these things if I drive a manual transmission?

Just fucking with you. I think these people are asshats.

I agree. I believe that too many people are able to do whatever the hell the want without anyone calling them out. I guess I've always just been too reserved and I keep it inside and never say anything, although I have said stuff in the past or made smart ass remarks that people have heard.

Just curious, but who nominated you for world police?

One time I thought it would be funny to park my jeep in a really tight spot because I was doorless, when I returned an entire slushie was in my front seat.

Lesson learned.

Personally I hate seeing people abuse handicap spots the worst. people are pieces of shit mostly, this is just one of many examples.

John Wayne don't put up with any horseshit in the parking lot By-God!!!

Saw a news article this weekend specifically relating to this, couldn't find the thread then, can't find the article now. Anyway, the jist was a group of pissed off women that saw non-pregnant people parking in pregnant woman parking spots. So they took chalk and wrote all around the offending vehicle(s), 'this person is an @$$hole', 'You're not pregnant'...etc etc. Apparently that spread to handicapped and firelane offenses as well.

I had to crawl out the back glass of the Bronco more than once so Shawn could park in what was left of the space next to some double-parked a-hole.

I'll blow the horn at a moving vehicle doing something stupid/dangerous but it's not really worth my time to care about what adults do that doesn't affect me, legal or not. That includes when I see LEO pass me at probably 20 over the speed limit, no lights, no sirens, which really does chap my hide. That does not include asshats on the trails, because their stupid/illegal behavior does affect me. It's fun watching @shawn yell at kids playing off-trail.

If someone does not know the law, that may be one thing to "educate" them... most people who do such things don't care. You 'educating' them is either going to start a fight or they will just ignore you. Either way, you've wasted your precious time on being pissed about some dumb asshole when you could be doing something way more valuable to your personal growth/fun/income-production.

Speaking of which, I think I'm going to make up a new rule about non-supporting members and the number of active threads in General Chit Chat.

I very very very rarely call out a stranger when I see them doing something wrong. I guess I'm afraid it could escalate to the person pulling a gun and me ending up dead. The more typical response from me is to just give them a stare that says to them, 'I recognize what you just did/are doing, but I'm going to go on about my day without saying anything'. I'm pretty laid back the vast majority of the time, but I have been 'set off' before in life. I don't own or carry a gun because I'm afraid a situation might 'set me off' while I'm armed and then I would end up in jail regretting my action. I think it happens to people all the time. They kill in the heat of the moment.

I tend to look at them with disgust...if I am with my kids I will use it as a teachable moment in a voice volume that insures the offending person hears them.

Realistically...I do enough dumb $#!T on my own...who am I to judge. There are enough folks trying to tell us what to do and regulate what we do...they have a mother, they don't need another one. They didn't need your help making the choices they did to get where they're at, they don't need your help now. They take the risk of getting a ticket for not being handicapped, or risk getting a fire hose through their busted windows. At the end of the day, don't throw stones if you live in a glass house...I'm sure there are enough hypotheticals that can make every one of us as bad as the parking offenders. I'm pretty even tempered, but the quickest for you to get decked is trying to reprimand me.
