Prerun times for UNF?

Looks like I'll be doing the run for the first time on Fri afternoon... pre-run plans thwarted by a minor little no-brakes problem...

I clocked JT at 9:08 in a hybrid A-B line. We got hung up on the B-line ledge, had to stop and make a second go at it, then took the A-line bypass around Kodak.

I want to know how many parts where claimed at the prerun.
I can tell you hitting a water bar at full speed is a bad idea. I snagged a rock sticking out of the bank with the passenger front tire and hooked a 180 in the trail. I thought I had ripped the knuckle off the axle, surprisingly though, no damage (found yet anyway). I ran it 4 times Friday afternoon, one electrical gremlin showed up, got it cured I hope. That course is wicked fast.

I'm heading out this morning..gonna be there all week...gonna try to surprise yall with a few ''slow downs'' hope yall like em' See ya at the races

oh, and my pre-run plans were thwarted by a fuel delivery issue and I ran out of flywheel teeth. I may not make the race :(

I think my friend strapped you to the road yesterday. You were trying to be towed up the hill before kodak by a Samurai . We couldn't let that happen, so he used his Rubicon to give you a tug. Hope you get it fixed.

What's the difference? :flipoff2:

Could you elaborate, I just did a prerun Sunday, don't want any big surprises, like taking a turn fast only to find big rock in way, thanks

We hit some water bars at speed, very interesting landing a few times, we about did a 180 endo as well, hope the new slow downs don't snag the high flying fun

Thanks a bunch to you guys, I appreciated the tug. My junk fired right up at the road, so we drove to the outpost, met up with a guy bringing a backup fuel pump. Then off to Daniel. That is when we realized DK in the white Sami had only been in 2LO (good job on the RML ledge in 2LO with an open rear :huggy:)
I made it up to the top of Daniel, when the fuel starvation issues cropped up again, even with the new pump. I hate to admit it, but the Sami in 4wd had no problem dragging me the rest of Daniel back to the double parking lot.

Hey no problem. We noticed that the Sammy was only in 2wd, we said something, but I guess no one heard.

It was a joke, I got nothing against any off-road vehicle. As Renegade said the sammy was in 2wd and was having SERIOUS problems pulling the CJ up the hill. 4 or five of us were trying to push the jeep up the hill with the sammy pulling and we were getting nowhere.

I still haven't prerun the course. I'm kicking myself but broken parts and a family vacation have held me back.

Are you guys running the course in low range or high range? 2wd or 4wd?

PS Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post up in the thread. I could really use the help.

Some of the people I've talked to are running in LR, some HR depends on your gearing.

I was running 2LO until the big ledge. Unfortunatley my junk crapped out right there and I never got a chance to do a full prerun. I planned on popping it back in to 2LO after that for the rest of the run, makes steering the locked front-end a lot easier :driver:

Like Greg said, it really depends on your axle & t-case gearing... Someone with a 5:1 case is gonna be tached out at 15mph in low.. Someone with a NP205 could probably get quite a bit of speed in low.

I tried RWD and 4WD in different spots, and will probably just pick something and deal with it, but my locker ratchets pretty well when not under power.

Tire pressure is something I can't quite put my finger on.... There's good arguments both for running low and for running high.

15-20 psi is what I found works best...see I'm not a dick I don't mind sharing:flipoff2:. Around 8 minutes was my run, slowing down for mud holes and went up Kodak.I was in 2hi until I got to the rough stuff then 4hi till the end.

Are there many areas of the course where turning radius is a concern? I'm going to have a spool in the front and selectable rear for this race and I'm trying to figure out what I should be doing. I'm thinking open rear and 4wd hi range for most of the race. We'll see.

Does anybody want to prerun tomorrow (5/7, Wednesday) around 6:30PM?

Did you go balls out on the steep down hill grade that is real rocky, seemed scketch in my Cherokee? 8 minutes is quick, how fast are you hittin the water breaks? I was hittin real hard with a tendency to endo, just welded some more of my pos cage in last night, just in case. With the unibody construction, I hope it will hold up(cage that is)

I'd probably stay locked the whole way, no real tight turns, if you had a selectable in the front, I might turn it off, but since you are spooled, you could always run one hub unlocked
