You got it! Could we meet somewhere that has tastey lunch?
I know a place...Casa Torres I believe. Texas fajitas ring a bell? You got it! Could we meet somewhere that has tastey lunch?
I hope you mean .0075 in for back lash....What did you end up with for a pinion shim? I just finished re-gearing mine Sat and would like to compare. I know it will differ slightly from third to third. I ended up with .040 on the solid spacer and .055 on the pinion with .075 backlash.

How did your gear install go? I've still been debating on passing someone to do mine or doing it myself. Only ever done one third and have never done a clam shell. Being my DD the fuck room is zero.Haha yeah, missed an 0.

LC stuff is easy because it has threaded side bearing adjusters. The tacoma axle uses shims on both the pinion and the carrier and I haven't done one like that yet, only mini truck and landcruiser thirds. It's tough to wrap your head around at first but it's not too bad once you get it figured out.
I have the elocker rear so it has the carrier bearing adjusters, the 8.4 use's shims. The front I think has one but I'm not sure, was hard finding info on it. More than likely going to use solid spacers on both to eliminate the crush sleeve.
Solid spacers are the way to go, I have them front and rear. Can be a little tough to set up. When I got my truck the front third was freshly
"built" (I use that term loosely) and I took it for a run on my cousins farm. I ended up over crushing the crush sleeve that somebody re-used and added shims too.... Don't know how my gears survived. I could pull the pinion in and out at the flange lol
Plenty of mini truck guys run 80 rears without issue but I haven't studied the details.
If I recall correctly, my pinion is pointed up about 12 degrees. I don't think I would use those measurements on anything else. I've got different rear springs that changed my wheelbase.
When I first built the 60 rear I set it down on the tires and played with the pinion angle for a while before I burned it in. With the 80 rear I just transfered the same pinion angle. It should work...
