Hey ECORS drivers, anyone else who wants to test out their 4x4, and anyone who wants to race a front-, rear-, or all-wheel-drive car:

There is a RallyCross (RallyX) race on Sunday 13-November near Clayton. The exact location is here:
http://www.thscc.com/general/direct.../www.nc4x4.com/forums/showthread.php?t=119506). Sorry for the late notice on this. There are 16 people currently pre-registered, and we need at least 25 by this Thursday to make the event happen.

Note that there is a new muffler rule. Because of noise complaints from neighbors, all vehicles must have muffler that makes it sound decent. (Not just having a muffler, and it still sounds like open headers) You *will* be turned away if your vehicle is blatantly loud, because we can risk issues with the county and getting the race site shut down.

It is $30 to enter if you pre-pay. This is a fairly rough course for a car, so I wouldn't recommend taking a daily driver car on it, but plenty of people do. It would be a great course for a beater car, 2WD truck, or 4x4, especially ECORS guys if you want to test anything out. Stock or stock-ish 4x4s (like A-class rigs) are welcome, but the club is wary of anything lifted higher because of roll-overs. Or bring a 2WD truck out there and be guaranteed a class win - no one ever enters in the 2WD "over 2.5L" class. It is lots of fun!

These are like autocross, but on dirt. Only one car on the track at a time, course is layed out by cones, the course is about 60-100 seconds long. It is in the open, so no chance of hitting trees.

You get at least 3 morning runs and 3 afternoon, but usually there is an additional practice run for each session, so 8 runs total. Plus after the event, they allow "fun runs", so you could do a bunch of additional laps if you want.

We need to get 25 people pre-registered, or else the event will be cancelled. So pre-register here if you're interested:

Let me know if you have any questions. There is plenty of room for trucks and trailers to park.

Reply to this thread if you have any questions about the event. I'd be happy to discuss.

I race an Audi Coupe Quattro with rally suspension.

Tire tread does not matter - it just puts you in the non-street tire class. Anything that is a mud or snow tire, or non DOT tire (like a Rally tire) puts you in the non-street tire class.

For questions about eligibility, I recommend sending a description of your rig to Kourosh at kkneshat@gmail.com with appropriate subject line (like "Can I RallyX this vehicle with THSCC?"). Something that is stock height would be fine. Stock height with bigger tires should be fine. I would say even mild 2-3-inch lift would be fine, but when you get to that point, you should check with the RallyX VP at that email address. It is better to email ahead of time, than to show up and not be allowed to run.

Whatever vehicle you bring, know that it has to pass safety tech, like the tires don't move when you shake them by hand (no bad bearings, ball-joints, or steering parts), the battery is tied down securely, brake fluid is full, brakes feel good when you step on them, steering is tight when you shake the wheel, etc.

So what does one win? Trophy? High five? Gas money?
Either is fine with me. Just wondering...
Signed up.

High fives and a little event magnet that has your position number on it (like 1st, 2nd, or 3rd). You used to win a plaque, but to keep costs down, they now just have the magnets. The $30-$35 entry fee just breaks even on the club expenses, including the big ones - insurance and site rental. This is especially true when we just barely meet the 25-driver attendance. We used to get close to the 50-driver limit at at least 1 or 2 events per year.

By the way - if anyone knows of land within 2 hours of the RTP area where we could potentially hold more RallyX events, please let me know. We're looking for more locations, as we lost one place last year, and looks like we lost 2 more this year. Needs to be open field (no trees to run into), land-owner doesn't mind it getting rutted up in corners, and no worries about neighbors annoyed by sound or dust.

Thanks Will and John for registering! Jay Calloway (Grand Cherokee) had also registered early. We are now up to 21 pre-registered. We just need 4 more!

Richard, Cort and I would be there except the motor for the red subaru is still in garage waiting on UPS with the clutch. Just another event I am gonna miss this year.

The RallyX is on!

I just heard that this event is on, even if we come up a little short of 25 attendees. They would hate to cancel the last event of the season, especially since the one in Sept got cancelled. :driver:

See you guys there!

And even if you don't pre-register, you can still sign up at the event, or just show up to watch. So come on out! For those I've never met in person, I'll be the long-haired guy with the red Audi.

I'm signed up and fired up!

This is Jay Callaway and it's not a Grand Cherokee, it's a TJ. I'm on roughly 1 3/4" lift with taller tires. I spoke with Kourosh and he said it would be good to go.

Just realized its sunday, I'll pressure wash the jeep, and if nothing is crapped out, I'll try and make it, what time does this biatch start, also I assume I'm ok with the wrangler being its lifted 3 inches with 33's?

Just signed up myself, I think that makes 5 ECORS rigs, maybe a little competion with a competion???

Here's the schedule Brad.

Gates Open: 7:30
Tech: 8:30 - 9:30
Registration: 9:00 - 9:30
Drivers' Meeting: 9:45
First Car Off: 10:15
Preregistered & Prepaid:$30
Paying at Event:$35
Late Registration Fee:$10$

Man I wish I still had a cherokee with a welded rear end, pretty sure i would be way faster

Really disappointed I can't be in two places at once!

If anyone else decides to pre-register, I think the registration may close today, but that doesn't mean it's full. You can still register on-site when you get there on Sunday. We are no where near the 50-entrant limit, so don't worry about that.

And there is no alcohol allowed by the way - I don't think that had been mentioned.

One more note - there is a helmet rule. Helmets must be Snell M, K, or SA dated 2000 or newer. No DOT-only rated helmets will be allowed. If you don't have a helmet that meets that, the club has helmets you can borrow, you just might have to share them among whoever is lined up to drive at the time, if there are not enough to go around.
