3hrs from home, 1.5miles in at Tsali and this happens:rolleyes:View attachment 251960
I guess that's why Dave carries spares.....never done that myself or even imagined. You clip a rock, hard?
Other than that.....how do you like it??
My peeps went all this week end and was disappointed.
New trail in Cherokee had them stoked.

Clipped a rock at speed but it looks like it's been broke for a while. I'll have spares from now on. We rode bent creek(greens lick/ingles field) on Friday, Cherokee on Saturday and Tsali on Sunday. Cherokee was new for us but all good stuff!

Them skinny guys just don't understand. I went back to clipless this year because I got tired of pedal strikes with my flats all the time. Gained about 2-2.5" of clearance from the corner of the flats I had on there.

Cut and folding my fenders the others are grey under neath

Fabbed up an additional bracket to mount to my Ham/brake controller bracket to put a phone holder on. All made from 1/8 aluminum plate.

After maybe 20 years without, I went back to a worm drive saw. Sure do like it! Got some good runtime today.

Those tubing cracks look like they're in very specific locations and broken all the way around, is that a butt joint for some reason at those areas or is there an insert or sleeve?

Looks to me that it cracked previously and each was welded before. Then someone ground down the welds to try to hide them before smearing rtv over the area.

The cracks originally appear to be from a big impact to the center of the skid, as all of the cracks are where the Heat affected zone stopped from adjacent welds.

I've cleaned and beveled them all out, and going to weld them tonight. Then add some tube over them as reinforcement and possibly some gussets.

Just need enough to make it to the winter, and we will build an entirely new X-member.

If you look at the pics closely, you can see where they couldn't grind/polish the weld down on the tops of the tubes where access is limited. Smh.

Looking at it am, I'm pretty sure someone cut the xmember out to work on the trans and welded it back in. Then tried to polish welds out and look like it hadn't been touched.

Didn't cross my mind last night.
