Random pic thread.

What do they test on that?
Some arrogant mouthy welder............

"My welds, of course.."

First thing I thought of......oh, I may use this line in class. Couple of high schoolers will Definately roll their eyes at me.:p

Was a pretty good weld I suppose...

I don't know how much that plate took to break, but it did break in a section away from the weld. That welder didn't stop talking about that for a year at least.

The 4.8 million was on the shaft above the plate. I think it was 9" diameter before the shrinkage deformation by an inch or so.

5 million pound press in both compression and tension at the Bureau of Reclamation in Denver, CO. When they did the initial test on it it took something like 4.8 million pounds of force to break. The legend holds with pretty reasonable certainty that when it broke the energy wave blew the windows out up near the ceiling. When they run test they will call the Geological Survey to tell them that if they pick up an anomaly at such and such a time that it was just a test. Pretty neat stuff!

Ran across these two heading S. on I-81 VA., Sunday. Let's see if you can identify the make? Lordy, the cars we forget, & many of you never heard of!

Kaiser. Actually no, the old one is a Frazer from the slim slim script logo on the back of the older one (same car company, like Lincoln is to Ford).

Nope. I'm not even positive of the Models, or years, though I got the Make, or makes correct. Their cousins, & not over 1952.

The newer one is probably a 1953 Manhattan/Dragon because of the rear fender trim, and the older is a Special sedan I think.

I'm no Kaiser/Frazer expert, but I recognized the '53 as a Kaiser. Had to go look up the year from the trim and I still don't know what makes the models very different..

Winner Winner!!! Didn't show in the pics, but in some traffic, the 47[?] Frazer, also had the emblem "Special", under the Frazer, on the trunk. I found 1 internet pic that showed a sign, saying Kaiser Special. By the grill & taillights, I feel it's a 1947. The newer one does seem to fit a 1952 Kaiser Dragon! I never got in front of it, so didn't get to see the grill. Later you get into Henry J, & Allstate models [sold through Sears]. Some Kaiser/Frazer engines, were supplied by Willys!

The Dragon is a Manhattan trim package with dragon/alligator looking vinyl upholstery from what I understand. Very strange stuff going on at that time.

So here's what I found out that makes me think it's a '53: The '52 appears to have no chrome trim along the top edge of the rear fender/fin, the '53 appears to have a thin chrome wedge on the fin, and the '54 had a taillight extension wedge on the fin.
This was the early '50s, so the every-year-is-slightly-different styling war was in full effect.

Nothing to see here. Just a guy driving a Tesla around a parking lot with the hood up with a Tesla technician sitting in the engine bay as he drives around the parking lot. Guess it runs so quite you have to be really close to it to diagnose a problem.

Probably just a hitchhiker he picked up that smelled not so good.

When he was a teething puppy, we gave him frozen carrots to soothe his gums. He became addicted! Now we have to eat them in secrecy otherwise it's a drool fest

So when I come to rob the house, and need something to throw over the fence to distract the dog, I need to go to the farm stand and not the butcher. Gotcha.
