Had a blast trout fishing today.

It was at the camping spot by the boat ramp

Yeah thats what I would want, spend more money to have less space and still only camp at places a regular RV could go.

Found my old xj looks like someone’s been beating on it just like I did

$4500 is awfully high for a project that sits and doesn't run.

So much for a jig to press a Kia axleshaft out of the bearing, housing, & bearing retainer.. it held 12 tons of force, but the bearing didn't move.. so I brought it to a bigger press.. got most of the force on it the press would give (somewhere between 30-40 tons).. unfortunately, the bearing and retainer kept it's grip on the shaft and....

I rushed welding that flange on, and didn't spend enough time on the flange, but I knew that after looking at the weld before using it.. of course I've only got a little 110v 90a fcaw and that's a 3/8" plate and 3/8" pipe and no root gap. The other end had a good 1/8" root gap. Oh well. I was surprised that the axleshaft didn't even move a fraction of a millimeter. I watched it getting pressed on the big press and it didn't give until it had nearly maxed it out. I gave up on changing the bearing. I have no ox/acet torches, and I am not going to waste any more time on it than I have already (whole day on what should have been a 2 hour job, between getting materials, cutting fabricating, widening my press deck, and pressing, driving to use the other press) First time for everything. At least it was satisfying watching the big press almost stall out before the jig gave up.. if I had welded that side better, I'm certain it would have completely & totally stalled the 40-50 ton press.. (I did think of grinding it but of course I had expected my 12 ton to remove it!! I've done at least a hundred with it, but those were just hub bearings, not axleshaft bearings)

Yours are just as bad. And your last set too.

Maybe I’m just uneducated, but it appears to be an open diff and I know I dropped off spools for both of mine. o_O

Sorry, but they won't. Way too hot for Jasper to be outside on asphalt. My wife is taking him for a waterfall hike while I'm wheeling all day.
While you're in Brevard, check out Upcountry Brewing beside Squatch Bikes. They have some killer brews and next door to them is an awesome restaurant called Magpie.
That's a great festival. There's also one in downtown Hendersonville all weekend if you're interested.

Thanks for the restaurant and trail recommendations. Kids had a great time.

@TARider Daniel Ridge is my favorite loop trail in Pisgah. The swimming holes are super cool and the waterfall at the end is a bonus.
I'll give you some more similar loops whenever you want them. We primarily waterfall/river hike our dogs in summer due to heat.

Glad you enjoyed yourself in my corner of the world!

EDIT: We plan to mountain bike that trail this weekend. Eeeek!

We’ll definitely be back. They want to camp for a week this summer to be able to see more.
I’ll bet the dogs love it. I kept thinking how much my old lab would have enjoyed the river along the way.
There were a good number of mountain bikers out, most running counter clockwise. It would be a heck of a workout on that initial climb but fun the rest of the way.

Did you message him? He told me he hasn’t had any problems besides the hydro steering leaking

It was a joke based on your current rigs status.

Our old house is going on the market this weekend. Spent the last few days painting, pressure washing, and fixing up the yard.

Oak roots had broken and lifted the concrete walkway about 2 inches, so yesterday I tore out the old (and did amazingly little damage to the landscaping with the backhoe) and went back with cobblestone edges and river rock infill.

Cheaper and easier than concrete, have under $200 in it.
