Many people have heard of Percy Flowers. It's what you've heard of him for that tells if you're from the area or not lol.

Duane

I did alot of surveying in Joco and found lots of old stills and remnants of all over the co. The largest I saw was N/W of the intersection of I40 and 42. It straddled a deep ravine, a tin roof shelter overgrown w vines and brush and there was 6 or 8 large fermentin tanks.I was suprised that it was old and long abandoned but it was not destroyed like the many stills I saw in Durham along the creek behind Northern High school.

We surveyed the area north of the neuse and south of 42 before it was developed. I was in awe when we did a topo and mapped the landing strip cut into a hill by the river before they built portafina and terramor.I also heard how and what it was used for.

It's sad to live here and see all of this destroyed for a dollar.

An older guy I know went bird hunting up buffalo Rd way back in the day and the dog took them somewhere they didn't need to be. They hid in the woods while 2 dudes in a willys jeep with a machine gun on top rode by. He said it looked like something off of rat patrol. Needless to say, they didn't hunt near Percy's land anymore.
