Trying to fix it but we'll see how it goes. The coping was busted and the brand new liner(old owner installed) drooped and fell during the winter. When I pulled back the tarp last spring, half the liner had pulled down Just bought this place fall 2018 and had a lot of water drainage issues in the backyard and basement. Ended up grading half of the backyard, built a retaining wall, removed TONS of crumbled concrete, plumbing several ground drains, building a fence.... did all the work myself but had help from friends with the wall and equipment. 38,000lbs of block

Definitely not poplar. It's a hearty hardwood. Also not red oak. I'm guessing in the oak family, but not a common one that I've seen around here. The bark is very pronounced. It's hard to gauge the scale, but the small end of that log is about 26", and the big end is 30-32".

No. Friend's grandparents had it taken down, and trunk was all that was left.
