What is that spring looking gizmo?
Oil filter return tube. The 6.0 power strokes has a cartridge style oil filter that goes inside an alum housing and its spring loaded. The o-ring under the housing was leaking on mine. And no its doesnt make the filter cheaper.

Hideous is a mega-understatement. It looks like they had a stock flare that lined up with the bumper, then the DOT compliance department said "put some 3" wide extensions on those" and engineering said "OK".

Then marketing said "now get one of those desert racer widebody kits, and cut just the wide part off, and glue it on top of these already extended flares", and assembly said "Will do!"

:wtf:
they are slightly less ugly now that they offer them body color, but still ugly

^^^ reminds me of when my neighbors grill caught fire and half-melted his vinyl siding and garbage can. That sagging, melted plastic vibe....

IJS, a Bronco with ree-dick-u-lus fender flares is old news:

back in the 90's when mini trucks and nd ground effects were so big a dude around here took alum house guttering, split it in half and put it on the bottom of his Ford Ranger. The 80's Rangers we’re real square so it didn’t look that bad.
