Rutherfordton Nc Ford 8n retrieval and Resurrection. I hope!

Did some more work moving logs with the old Ford this past weekend. She seems to be smoking quite a bit and burning oil. I also noticed the old intake was leaking by #4 and about chocked me out yesterday. So the used intake is getting replaced with a new one. Hopefully that helps. Now as for burning oil. These old flathead motors have the valve's in the block and no oil going in the head if I understand them right. So does that mean oil is either getting in past the intake valve or the rings?

Ordered a new intake this week and showed up today. Still need better exhaust pipe. The flange isn’t right.

TY for that. I was googling the part number and wasn’t getting anywhere.

Well, I lied lol. Since @ghost has done a pump rebuild, maybe you can offer some tips. This will be fun. It was way over full. And as much water as oil lol.

Drop the pump out the bottom get a kit and case of parts cleaner and clean everything. Inside too! It's not that hard especially if i can do it. You Tube is your friend. LOL!

I want/need a battery tray but I ain't paying $80 for it then shipping. So far the cheapest I have found is about $50. On eBay and Amazon.

Drain it and drop the pump and rebuild it. There are some good videos on you tube.

Looks like that's the plan. The kit with the chambers is ~$450.

Put a water hose in the hole and let it trickle over night.

Bring a couple 5 gal pails out. If it’s clay it will seep in. Be ready for the corkscrew to take you for a ride when it digs into the muck clay though.
It’s hard packed clay. Found it when I first got here fixing fencing and putting in post
To keep our Molly girl out of the road. It was mostly a foot or 2 before I hit it. I was hoping the auger would dig in and get sucked down.
