Rutherfordton Nc Ford 8n retrieval and Resurrection. I hope!

Ok lets talk post hole diggers. I'm thinking of building a pole barn for trailer and tractor and wood storage. Just under the top soil is clay. Digging post holes is a PITA! I also plan on redoing the entire perimeter fence line at some point. So I figure a PHD would be a good investment. Any of you have any experience with one on an old Ford?
In my experience my 8n didn't lift it hight enough and the front was pretty light. Down pressure hydraulics is also a great way to minimize risks to the family jewls. We were using an old auger, I think its a leinbach brand.

I doubt that 8n has the mustard to pull an auger big enough for what you need. Post holes need to be 16" dia minimum.

I was thinking of making more than one hole for the footer or pier and fine tuning by hand. Easier than a shovel and pick axe. Main thing it the fence redo.

Boy I feel stupid. My 8n quit a few years ago out of the blue. Assumed it was the coil as it had no spark. That's as far as it got though. Pushed it out of the way and it hasn't really moved since. Saw a coil on sale on Amazon and decided to fix the old girl. Popped old coil off and went to clean the points. Frickin dizzy rotor button was busted :shaking:. Guess if I get it going I'll put it in the Raritan club tractor parade in a couple weeks lol. Still need to fix the lift. Has absolutely no pressure. No resistance at all on the arms.

The pump rebuild was way easier than I expected. I went and looked back I didn’t see where I linked the kit I got but I’m fairly certain it was from just 8n’s. Also that dizzy rotor on mine had a small metal clip. Do t loose it in a field like I did. ;)

Good to hear that the pump rebuild is doable. I'm guessing that's where I'm heading after I get it running. I don't recall ever seeing a clip on thw rotor. Maybe that's what happened lol.

It’s on the dizzy shaft. I’ll post a picture later. I bought two when I found out about it.

You don't need a stand, just drill it in enough to hold it up and let it be.
So my wife has a good point about it causing it to rust and deteriorate quicker being in the dirt. Still plan to do it until I get a stand built.

I made a stand. Made it easier for sure but it's still has to be done in a specific order and acts like a mouse trap.

Ordered an ignition kit and got it to hit on ether. Now to clean the carburetor, then on to the 3pt not working. Crappy picture, I had the heathens "helping" and the rain cut us short.

how do you like the rear pallet forks? I have contemplated getting some for mine, but wasnt sure how useful they would actually be.
For $300 from Agri Suply they have been wonderful. With no lift I can move logs and pallets of things and totes of wood around when I need to move them. The only limit is lift height and weight for the old Ford. To me they have been well worth the dollars spent.
