Secondhand Tin Can.

I forgot your xj is a 2000, mine was a 99, so my experience wouldnt mean much since it's a different exhaust system.
Its leaking at the clamps so I'm hoping I can tighten them down and solve the issue.

Kieth, check your castle nuts holding your tie rod ends at the knuckle. Also check that the back of the tie rod is rubbing the track bar mount on axle side.

Currie correct lyncs are bad for the castle nuts to come loose

I had this crazy idea today for a belly skid. Let me know what yall think. I want it to be easy to remove but strong enough to take a hit.

Finally got a truck and trailer. I think I had a tad too much of tongue weight during the test tow.

Hopefully in the next two weeks I'll be changing the gear oil in the jeep and replacing the power steering pump. At idle the tires arent wanting to turn too easy and the pump makes alot of noise.

On this episode of working on a 20year old shitbox. I stripped a bolt hole on my rear diff. I also shattered my power steering pulley trying to get it off.

After backing up my trailer at night once I decided I needed some lighting back there so I added two led pods. I wired them into my reverse lights.

i need to do the same as well!

Great now I'm gonna have to do this too.

When you say reverse lights, is there already provisions on the trailer plug for reverse lights?

Never mind, just saw you other thread. Getting educated.

I think I have started something.....

To summarize be prepared to get a new plug. I recommend ordering a 7 block box. To make it easier and to make it easier to swap out your plug if the need arises.

I now have a spare plug and wire. Along with a new wire. Both have each wire labeled with what it is. With the spare plug and wire I wont have my reverse lights but I rather be able to quickly splice that plug in and have brakes. If for some reason mine got damaged while on a trip.

Both will always be in the truck if I'm towing just incase.

Well I decide it was time to replace the spark plugs since they havent been change since the motor went in. Also found and dealt with the exhuast leak I had.

I wish I could have just welded it but I used putty then wrapped it. I forgot to take the plastic wrapper off the first couple wraps.

Next big step for the jeep will be a hybrid cage and suspension seats. This will probably happen end of the year or next year.

Right now I'm planning on going with the welderd cage. My goal with the seats is to drop them as low as possible. This way I have plenty of head room.

For right now I'm still looking for skid plates.

Dont hate on the fabrication skills but leave tips so I can improve. This is also the first time I have ever done anything like this.

I messed up on ordering my 2x6 I need 65 not 56. So I took one and cut 7 inches off and welded it to the other to make a completed one. I decide 63 would work better than 65 so I can still trim my fenders a little more if need be.

Debating on welding a plate to the bottom of the joint.

It looks like you may need to turn the heat up a bit, looks like they could penetrate a little better. Either that or slow down a bit so they’re can “sink in”. Otherwise looks good.

Yeah adjusting my speed is the thing I'm struggling with right now.

I got one side almost done. I have two more supports to weld in and trim the fender. Welding the door sill to the 2 by 6 was a PITA.

I finally got the driver side done and painted. Welding upside down and side ways sucks.

Got the passenger side ready for the supports. My welding has improved on the top edge. I finally got my technique down with my flick over to the sheet metal.
