Yo, anyone know who the dude was out there that looked like he was using one of those new HD "Flip" style video camera's?

Would like to get some feedback on the camera itself, tryin to come up with a few camera's for my staff to use every weekend so I can start doing webisodes or similar.

I did 5 freakin events this past weekend for what? If I can't put all the crazy stuff I do it in front of everyone than its pointless because there will be no exposure and growth beyond the folks that were already there . . .

Camera's are freakin expensive thou, arg.

Ha, sorry, end rant.

Are you talking about the dude in the orange shirt walking around taking pictures of everybodys rigs? If so I had a few folks ask me who that was too, because none of the pictures have showed up anywhere yet and nobody knew him. He looked pretty official.

Just an FYI on the Flip camera- I brought one with me out to Moab earlier this year and my wife recorded most of the trip. The video came out in 720p wide-screen and I was really pleased with the results.

Take a look at the vid here if you like:

I hate it that I missed this! My in-laws were in town, so I couldn't get away. Looks like it was a lot of fun though!

Dang that was a really good video quality in 720 HD,

Have you watched it on a fullsize HD tv, how did it look? Curious to know cause I gotta use a lot of this footage for my end of year DVD.

did she use any kinda tripod or stand at any time or was that all free hand?

Also do they take the SD cards and what kinda battery life do they have?

I heard they only have 2x zoom is that how ya'lls was and did she find that to be a hindrance at all?

and how does it do at night/dark lighting?

And what model camera was that?

Sorry bout all the questions, preciate the help, just needing to get something goin on videoing all these events I do every weekend and can't afford the super expensive stuff especially since I'm gonna have to get like 3 cameras.

You can get them cheap now from tigerdirect.com or circuitcity.com or ecost.com

They record ready to go to internet size/file type video.

All my video is DV and ripped, then edited down... but you know that.

Yea, my only issue now that I think about it is the lack of zoom, apparently they are only 2x zoom, and the more i think about it unlike rock crawling a lot of other stuff we do you can't be that close to the action so the lack of zoom would suck . . .
