Is the typical winter sick season worse this year for you and your families, friends, and coworkers? Apparently there have been so many sick people at my work that they are coming in this weekend to do a deep cleaning of the whole building.

x2 half of my staff is out on/off Ive had a sore throat and cough for almost 5 weeks now.

We have had way above average on the flu cases at work. Had 3 folks admitted the the hospital due to the flu. Had a gals daughter (30 years old) from our FL facility pass away with the flu. We ( at home) have battling sinus, sore throat and cough for 3 damn weeks now. I am sick of being sick!

My father has been sick since before Christmas. My mother is sick now too. My nephew was running a fever of 103 yesterday. Knock on wood, everyone in our house has been ok so far, but I feel like it is just a matter of time this winter.

Ive been sick since the day after Christmas. I was finally starting to feel good this past week, and woke up this morning with crud and a sore throat. It'll last another week before it clears out if it doesn't get worse.

So far, so Good! Probably better that most of my work is outside, & by myself. Though I do eat out & shop a lot.
I Always take the Flu shot, though this year has been a Scare it doesn't work! It Helps anyway. Co-workers are alright, but the Boss might have a cold or something. His 6 year old is Always sick!

After stating my position on the flu shot. I got to feeling bad around Thanksgiving. Crud sore, throat sinus.....then I feel better but not 100 percent. Go figure.
Then seems like anybody who was over for New Years got sick. My son started it. Type A flu. We all got some sort of variation.
Here it is Febuary and still got tender sinus and sore throat snotty crap. I haven't had good energy since last year. I'm beginning to feel like turning 42 means down hill from here. This sucks.

The wife says one of the private schools her school works with, completely shut down for 3 days. And her school is considering doing the same thing because they’ve roughly had half attendance since New Year's.

The community college where I work is serious enough about it the security group has been sending informative emails. They have also sent out questionares on how best to deal with it. Maybe even with attendance policy changes.

Fook that! It is all in your head. I'm 44, and stronger than ever.

I'm following 3 rules, and it works (so far).

1) wash hands as often as possible....20-30 seconds minimum with soap and water as hot as I can stand it
2) don't touch your eyes, nose or mouth with your hands
3) use hand sanitizer when you can (although with most of this you don't get enough contact time to kill a virus, but it helps somewhat)

I just got the shingles at the age of 54. Advise.....get the vaccination if you can afford it. Im out 3 weeks so far.
Good thing I get std at full pay or this would really suck.

We've generally had good luck this year, not sick. Then today my 7yo daughter spiked a 102 fever and been miserable.
A close family friend is an NP at the local hospital, been there years. She says the flu has been really bad, their having deaths from it, people they'd previously never expect problems with. Said they and urgent care places have been overrun and running out of beds.

We've had an above average number of people out of work with flu as well this year.

Our son brought home the stomach flu from daycare and gave it to my wife and i, my mother in law and sister in law, my brother and my dad. It was a rough 24 hours. Im typically pretty good about staying away from germs but there's nothing you can do about it when a 1 yr old unexpectedly sticks his slobbery hand in your mouth.

Was out of town most of January so I missed the crap getting passed around the office but came home to the fiancée with Brochitis, the Flu and an ear infection. Ive missed it all so far and have been watching my vitamin c intake, fluids and sleep since I’ve been back.

I had the shingles at 50. Not fun. Turned out I was allergic to the main med they give for it, valacyclovir. They also give a pain pill....gabapentin. Lived on that for a few weeks.

x2 on the vaccine shot. Get it. I asked my family doc at my prior year physical....said put if off until next visit, as I was 49, and my insurance would cover it at 50. Six months later....bang.

That's nothing. Wait until you get his vomit in your mouth.

A lot of new parents remember exactly when that moment was, that they were laying on the floor holding their little darling over their head looking up into their beautiful eyes... and they open that cute little mouth unexpectedly....
