So, for you to say it wont or cant impact his future is simply wrong. The fact is, like it or not, you have chosen to stay in the military and been successful at it because on some level you enjoy the structure and direction that comes from others telling you what/how/when to do.
That is a big misconception of the military. You are given a task and you complete it, same as a civilian job. You are told that you need to be to work at a certain time, so you are there. It is, in a sense, nothing more than a job with a few more restrictions in place. And at my point in time, no one tells me what/how/when to do
Just this week, one of our Sgt's got selected for a commissioning program, yet, in his past, he's got two NJP's of which he was found guilty of UA drinking. Didn't seem to hold him back none, guess he should have given up since it would ruin his future.
It's all about what you do after the charges that will nullify them.
